Dean & Debbie Capelotti started Fallbrook Gymnastic Club in the Fall of 1982 as a recreational gymnastic program that operated at the Fallbrook Navel Weapons Station Gym. The program continually grew and by 1987 it was time to expand. We moved to Fallbrook proper into the Apollo Publishing Building. In 1991 the building was sold and we moved to River Village in Bonsall, while our current location was being built. In June of 1993 our current location was completed and we moved back to Fallbrook. As a gymnastic club we have always been active in Artistic Women’s competition fielding a team every year for over 25 years.
In 1994 we started to participate in Group Gymnastics and in that year our Team was one of the teams selected to represent the US in the World Gymnaestrada in Berlin Germany in 1995. In 1998, Dean was part of USA Gymnastics delegation in Sweden to prepare for the 1999 World Gymnaestrada in Gothenburg Sweden. The Swedish host invited the delegation to their National TeamGym Competition. The entire Delegation knew this was a sport that needed to come to the US. Dean being the only member of the delegation to have gymnastic club, formed a demonstration team and starting promoting the new sport. By December of 2000 there were enough teams to host the first USA Gymnastic sanctioned competition in the US at Fallbrook Gymnastic Club.
Dean & Debbie have been highly involved with Group Gymnastic movement host 4-5 to events each year and hosting a number of the Group Gymnastics National Championships. Group Gymnastics gives Debbie the platform to combine two of her loves in life, gymnastics and Amusement parks. Fallbrook Gymnastics host 3 events a year that are in Amusement parks. 2011 saw more changes as World Champion Trampolinist George Hery joined the staff and started to work with the Boys team and help implement the start of a Sports Acrobatic program (known more commonly as Parkour). Then is the Summer of 2012 we added a Trampoline and Tumbling Program and Cheer Program.
As we approach our 30th anniversary as a club we are going through a complete remodel in the gym as we add more equipment. This Fall we are planing a reunion for all the athletes we trained over the past 30 years. Our goal has always been for our students to have fun in the Sports we offer whether the athlete is just starting out at the recreational level or a champion on one of our many competitive teams.
