The Family Acupuncture Center provides comprehensive holistic Chinese medical care by Kay Madsen, Licensed Acupuncturist. Areas of particular expertise and success include: women's health, pain management, depression, anxiety, and chronic fatigue.
The Family Acupuncture Center was established and continues to be operated exclusively by Kay Madsen, Licensed Acupuncturist. It was founded on the concept that medical care should be provided from the vantage point that each patient is a unique whole person, not a statistical average or a sum of specialized parts. She uses her extensive knowledge of Chinese medicine to provide her patients with relief from their health concerns, often where conventional Western medical efforts have failed. Kay applies her knowledge of both Chinese and Western medicine (mainstream and integrative) to help patients fully understand and participate in the resolution of their health issues.
One of the primary areas of clinical success relates to women's health issues, including PMS, menstrual issues, menopausal symptoms, and infertility. Other success stories concern resolution of pain, including migraines and other chronic headaches, sleep and digestive issues, fatigue and psycho-emotional manifestations, such as depression and anxiety.
After leaving behind a decade of practicing as an attorney, Kay received her Masters of Acupuncture in 2002 from the Traditional Acupuncture Institute in Columbia, Maryland. She says of her experience, "During these past years, it has been my privilege to follow my heart's true desire of solving vexing health problems through the practice of Chinese medicine. Often times I am the only medical practitioner in a patient's life putting all of the pieces together, from both a Western and Eastern standpoint. There is nothing more gratifying than to witness the unraveling of each person's issues and to see them empowered with the knowledge they gain. In practicing Chinese medicine as primary care at home as a mom, I have been inspired to find ways to also offer treatment to children. It is my vision that providing drug free holistic care early in life is the greatest gift that we can give our future generations. I also see that helping even one person radiates outwardly to everyone in that family, however, that word might be defined. Hey, if mom (or teacher or dad, etc.) has a headache, nobody is having a good day!"
