Fanton, Gary Dr - Stanford Health Outpatient Center

Dr. Gary S. Fanton operated on my knee in 1988 December. Full ACL surgery and miniscus cleanup. Has lasted 31 years. He did state back then that after 20 years some arthritis is bound to set in ... it is probably true. But doing OK. Kudos to Dr. Gary Fanton.

I've had two ACL reconstructions done by Dr Fanton, about 5 years apart. The first one was good enough that I got back to all my old sports, and managed to blow out the other knee. I went back to Dr Fanton and was pleasantly surprised to learn that his prefered technique had significantly changed since my last surgery. It was tempting to say "just do it like the other one, because I know that works", but he's kind of a pro, so I let him do it his way.... Of course the new technique is even better. I healed quicker and honestly did get 100% back to my pre-surgery performance level. It might even be an upgrade, but I'm not willing to risk hurting myself to find out. I like a doctor who is not afraid to mess with sucess. Dr Fanton has an enviable reputation, but he's not resting on it. He's still innovating. I'd recommend him for any knee reconstruction. he might do replacements too
