Farm and Forest is an up-and-coming local agricultural business dedicated to building community and growing top-quality foods by incorporating organic, biodynamic, and permaculture methods.
We are a team of first-generation farmers in our first year of production. Michael Hendershot Jr. has owned and run Greenwich Wood Products for the past ten years and continues to do so whilst at the same time blossoming into an agricultural scientist. Sister Kelly Hendershot is also becoming fairly well known in the agricultural world, but her true passion lies in her faith and she has aspirations of doing international missionary work. Jesse Coker has been gaining agricultural experience in different contexts for several years now, and having recently returned from two years with Peace Corps Uganda, is eager to blend inspirations drawn from near and far into a successful farming operation here in Rhode Island. Located at historic Lippitt Farm in western Cranston, we have nearly 100 acres of woodland to steward and three acres of intensively cultivated land. Our philosophy is that through creative and regenerative practices, we can produce highly nutritious and delicious food while becoming a resource for others to build their own capacity to do this themselves.
