Non-for-profit program that supports the Assumption Soup Kitchen.
Our ministry and outreach to the poor began in 1865 when the Franciscan Sisters of the Holy Infant Jesus opened our Soup Kitchen. Their mission was simple; to serve anyone who was in need. Rooted in the Franciscan tradition and the Gospel of St. Matthew they "Gave food to the hungry and drink to the thirsty". In the 1970,s we began to operate a Food Pantry to compliment the daily soup kitchen. Families are eligible to come to the pantry once per month to receive parcels of food.
Today the Conventual Franciscans and a staff of over 80 volunteers continue this mission by welcoming our brothers and sisters who are in need. Our Soup Kitchen is open 7 days per week, serving thousands. Our Food Pantry is open Monday-Friday, and Saturday and Sunday by appointment.
It is our hope that you will generously participate in our ministry by supporting us through the purchase of our cookies and confections. 100% of the proceeds go to fund our ministry on the Northside of Syracuse.
