Fat Harold's is a world renowned Beach Music Club, featuring our State Dance, THE SHAG! We offer you the best in Beach Music from our Club DJ's or one of our very favorite Beach Bands! "Fat Harold's Beach Club in Ocean Drive is the Home of the Shag opened by the Legendary King of the Shag, Harold Bessent. Fat Harold will always be remembered for his contributions to the Shag Dance and Beach Music Lifestyle. Cold Drinks and Great Food is available at the Shag City Grill inside of Fat Harold's. The club has 2 dance floors and features the best DJs nightly. Shag Lessons are provided on Mondays and Tuesdays. Free Line Dance Lessons on Thursdays. Was extremely disappointed after taking my girlfriend on our first vacation to myrtle beach and went to pirates cove where the drinks are served in Dixie cups. I was ready to write myrtle beach off as a disaster before we walked into Fat Harold's. The bartender was awesome. He was extremely nice and personable, even though it was a little slow because it was a thuraday. And served real drinks! A real top notch guy. Didn't catch his name but he had a big beard. I could only wish all bartenders were as awesome and nice as he was!! The bartender makes the bar, this guy is good.
Best burgers in town. Live music, live broadcasts from local radio stations. Eclectic crowd of 50+. Super bartenders, always friendly if they get time to talk.
Just had Burgers and Fries here. It was a great place to eat very friendly people. And the bartender was great. The food was good and the patrons were a lot of fun.
We loved the atmosphere at Fat Harold’s when we visited on 12/29/2021. We did not enjoy the DJ, Jimmy B. He played music that we were not familiar with. I think we even heard a couple of RAP songs. He was also hard to understand and rambled on about nothing. We have heard Jay K on other occasions and he is awesome. He plays tunes we love and are familiar with.
Legendary, being a younger guy, and not being a good dancer little intimidating trying to dance at the Fat Man's house... So many wonderful people there to teach and help you out. As growing up 40mins from there being able to return and pick up right where my childhood stopped. That is a great feeling. Love visiting and dancing. See y'all at SOS!!!!!
Great bologna sandwich and the BEST Dance floor on the East Coast

Would be 0, upon checking in we were tiled they do not hold ocean seats, they are first come first serve. We could sit at the bar and check back in 15 minutes - fair enough. We had a seat at the bar, ordered two drinks which were served expediticiosly, and waited our 15 minutes. After the 15 minute wait I checked with the hostess again for table availablity and she told me they had checked with me regarding a table and I declined. Didn’t happen!!! As it turns out, the offer for the table was made to the couple next to us and they declined the table. Mistake and mistakes happen…. All was good until “ Bubba” behind the bar decided to get involved - his attire regarding the situation was poor and not required, but he decided to get involved anyway. Long story short, paid the bar tab and left. No idea how the food is, but the customer service is a POS and even in these COVID times this was unacceptable. Admit your mistake and I would have dined at your location, however the attitude of the bartender is unacceptable and needs to be addressed for future customers.
Best cheeseburger on the beach at good price. If you like beach music you already know about Fat Harolds!
I've been all over the world and Fat Harold's is THE BEST! It's the staff & Harold's widow that keep his legacy alive. Every, single employee is polite, super friendly, and has always made me feel like family. It's no wonder that the place is always packed with friendly, happy people having fun and so many different things to do on each night. Fat Harold's will be a major reason why I buy a house in North Myrtle Beach & make it my permanent home!
