The airport is a regional one. They have a full staff for TSA in the early mornings. The airport opened early, and I arrived at 430am. There are coffee shops open for small portion breakfast. No traffic, which is always a plus.
The airport is convenient, the layout isn’t difficult to find your way around in, and the entire in/out timeframe is only a few mins, when compared to the giant sized airports that take 1/2 hr to just park and walk in to. Here you park and are in checking in within 10-15 mins! Your in! That’s a lotta ins. You got an “in” with Fayetteville Airport.
Within the last 2 years they have made some awesome upgrades to the building inside and out. Very clean and bright. Friendly Airport staff.
I have been coming through this airport for the last 20 plus years. It continues to improve with additional shops, restaurants, and airlines. The USO also has new recliner chairs for service members. The airport is very clean.
Unfortunately, I had a less than satisfactory experience with American Airlines during my recent travel. While waiting in line to check-in for our early flight from Fayetteville, I was with a service member who was belittled. We waited in line for 2 workers to come out and check our bags. The younger lady assisted the first person in the priority line. Then the older lady started assisting people in the main line. The first person in line was a service member in civilian clothes in the main line. The American Airlines representative asked for his orders, despite their system showing that the flight was booked through SATO. Unfortunately we didn't have them. The lady then argued with the service member I was with on the reason why orders were required. Despite pulling up their own policy, which only covers bag weight and how many are allowed well on active duty orders and for personal, the lady still seemed intent on making things difficult for the service member. She even went as far as insisting that his bag was over the 50lb weight limit, when the policy clearly states that active duty is allotted up to 100lbs. It was frustrating to witness this, especially when Delta was checking everybody else in quick and easy. It was obvious that this particular American Airlines worker was making things difficult for no reason. The service member was only trying to check one bag, and the fact that the lady insisted on orders despite the policy's lack of a requirement for it just made everything worse. When it was my turn she didn't ask for orders she just checked the bag in less than 1 minutes. As someone who values our service members and military personnel, I was saddened to see this take place. It's not something I would like to experience again. Our soldiers deserve better treatment than what was displayed.
A Poor Display of Respect and Hospitality I'm disappointed to report that my recent experience at Fayetteville Regional Airport left much to be desired. Being a military-friendly region, one might expect courteous and respectful service - sadly, that was far from what I received. From the moment I arrived, the staff members were not just unaccommodating but seemingly harboring negative attitudes. Being a member of the armed forces, I found this particularly disconcerting. Their indifference towards military personnel is baffling, given the airport's proximity to one of the country's largest military installations. Despite presenting my military ID, I was met with apathy rather than the appreciation we usually receive for our service. The workers didn’t make any effort to understand or accommodate the unique needs of military personnel. It felt as though we were being treated like an inconvenience, rather than respected service members. The overall atmosphere was also less than welcoming, with employees appearing indifferent and unresponsive to questions or requests. Their demeanor was not representative of the respect and gratitude we typically encounter in other areas of Fayetteville, where the military community is deeply appreciated. Unfortunately, Fayetteville Regional Airport needs a significant revamp in its customer service department, especially when it comes to addressing the needs and respect of military personnel. In its current state, I find it hard to recommend this airport to my fellow service members, or indeed, anyone expecting a courteous and warm reception.
Son went American airline to bush international, they changed their policy about only one parent can go up with an unaccompanied minor. Last year, we both were able to see him off. The airport is nice though the bottom is at least.
They won't check your bags in if you show up early. Check in counters abandoned while passengers waited in line for 30 minutes. Wall outlets turned off so you can't charge anything.
All stay that I interacted with was friendly. I travel often and have seen many regional airports. With a few upgrades this place could be decent. Not much for food options after security. There is a bar and and cafe outside of security. But, maybe something easily accessible for people waiting for a flight? Stayed in North Carolina for nine days. When I got here the escalator was out of service. Now that I am leaving the escalator is still out of service. I'm not an expert on escalators. But, when you only have one, it should probably be working for how busy this airport seems to be.
Small and clean regional airport. Very nice/helpful stuff!
