On January 16, 2003, the Metropolitan Campus celebrated the grand opening of the new $3.9 million state-of-the-art Fitness Center. The new facility, which is 19,500-square-feet, is a complete renovation and expansion of the original gymnasium. The building retained its original brick facade and doorways, giving the center a truly unique and intimate design.
All members of the university will enjoy all the center has to offer. The center has a central court for pick-up basketball and volleyball games. It also boasts top-of-the-line fitness equipment in three different rooms. There is a selectorized weight room, a free-weight room and a cardiovascular room. Along with an aerobics and dance studio, the center also has an upgraded commuter lounge with internet-ready USP ports, wireless access and a TV.
Intramurals are open to all FDU students, faculty and staff and its easy to get involved. For team sports, its best if you put a team together from people you know from your residence halls, classes, or organizations. If you have not yet met others on campus who are interested, there is no better way of making friends than by joining an Intramural event.
The Department of Intramurals and Recreation offers programs to meet the needs and interests of the diverse campus population by providing a variety of activities in a relaxed environment. We offer something for everybody. So satisfy your urge to play...get involved in Intramurals, just for the fun of it!!!
