One of the things that sets us apart from a typical martial arts school is that we specialize in children’s developmental programs.
Where a typical school will place all their students in a traditional martial arts program which is based on kicking, blocking and striking techniques – our focus for the younger students, 3-9 years old, is teaching martial arts related concepts.
Each of our developmental programs is age-specific and age-appropriate. They use basic martial arts skills to teach concepts in each of the 3 programs. These concepts teach our students the things that are developing in each of the age groups – 3 & 4, 5 & 6, and 7, 8, & 9 year olds.
It’s been our experience that these programs are much more effective at teaching these children martial arts concepts like discipline, self-control and confidence than trying to teach them traditional martial arts techniques which are usually skills and concepts that are way over their head and they just can’t understand or perform at those younger age levels.
Another difference is our understanding of the different age groups to learn and retain information. Younger children just aren’t able to learn and remember as much as the older kids, teens and adults so we don’t try to teach things they just can’t get. If you do, they’ll just get frustrated and want to quit. That’s why teaching them a few concepts instead of a lot of techniques is much more realistic and effective.
Our mission is to mold the minds and bodies of young children through our character development programs and teach those students life skills that will help them become successful adults, driven to succeed and motivated to achieve their goals. To teach our students the values and rewards of hard work through learning and becoming proficient in their self defense skills. To create leaders in our communities by teaching and modeling the traits of courtesy, honor and perseverance on and off the training floor.
