One of the Greatest Human
Tragedies is to see a need
And to do nothing about it.
Feral Cats are the direct result of human disregard. Feral Cats start off life as Domestic Cats left behind by humans. They are left to fend for themselves. If they are not fixed, they breed. The result is Cats born in the wild without human contact. The Young become Feral.
The Summer of 2011 in the town of East Windsor a Feral Cat bit a local youth. The Cat was caught and tested positive for Rabies. This is a major health issue. If a wild animal approached you in the day time, acting friendly, you might figure something was wrong with him. If it's a Cat you might try and pet him. Well if he is sick, you can see the problem.
Trap Neuter and Release is a program that help's the Wild/Feral Cats. In most programs you can make sure they have a Rabies shot. Since the Feral's life span isn't normally long, they are covered and contact with humans safer.
What we are trying to do is care for the Domestic, turned Wild Cats. Cats will make it in the wild easier than Dogs. It is still a struggle for them.
By Fixing the Ferals, especially the Females, you can keep the population in check till thru natural attrition, the Colony grows smaller.
