~Assisting young artists in the exploration of their own creative expression
~The mission at Figgy’s Art Studio is to provide both a safe and an enjoyable art environment where the students will be encouraged to both think independently and challenge their creative minds all while discovering the complex and inspiring world of visual arts.
~It is my belief that as their teacher it is my responsibility to respect my learners as well as they respect me. Building relationships and having genuine respect shared with students is something that will make studio harmony and productivity. I create an educational environment that discourages negative behavior and encourages positive behavior
~Visual Art Education is essential to all learning and human development. Visual Art Education coincides with cognitive processes by integrating multi-sensory experiences. Art is an important part of our every-day lives and culture. It is something both learned and practiced. The individual doesn't necessarily need to be “talented” to be able to succeed at art. Art is a fantastic way for an individual to express their unique ideas and/or feelings. Art connects to all subjects: Literature, Math, Science, History, Social Studies and Music. Art can also be used as a gateway to an understanding of other cultures and ethnicities.
~Classes are kept small with a maximum of 8 students. This provides more opportunity for me as an educator to work one on one with my students. I feel as though it is important for me to reach students and work off their individual interests.
~Students may choose and explore a multitude of mediums such as drawing, painting, printmaking, 2d design, sculpture, ceramics, pottery, textile design, screen printing, sewing, woodworking, stained glass, jewelry, metal-smithing, lamp work, art history and much more!
