We are a youth program that is for students between the ages of 14 to 20 to explore a career in the fire service industry.
The Fire Department Explorer Program is designed for young adults from 14 to 20 years of age who are interested in learning about a career in the Fire Service. In addition to learning about the Fire Service, the Explorer program’s main goal is to provide the young adult with a sense of responsibility to their neighborhood through on-going community related activities.
The explorers receive training similar to volunteer and professional firefighters, including basic fire chemistry, hose evolutions, ladder operations, medical and CPR training, hazardous materials, and auto extrication.
The training program is intense and demanding, however the rewards are increased character and the understanding of what it takes to pursue a career in the fire service.
Fire Explorers benefit by receiving the chance to learn teamwork and leadership skills. They can receive High School credits. They compete in activities at Fire Explorer gatherings. They receive necessary training to be successful in a fire service career.
Our mission is to succeed at training and developing outstanding future firefighters, first responders and community leaders.
