Firehouse 28 is a career fire station in the Seven Corners area of Falls Church in Fairfax County, Va. Firehouse 28 houses an Engine & Medic
There are 21 Fairfax County Career Firefighters assigned to Firehouse 28 divided amongst three shifts. Each Shift has a Captain, an Apparatus Technician (Engine Driver), two EMS Technicians (Firefighter/Paramedics), and three Firefighters. All firefighters (including the Captains) not certified to the Paramedic level are EMT's. The "B" Shift Captain is the Station Commander. We staff Engine 428 (the 4 in front of the 28 is a jurisdictional designator because in Northern Virginia we have an automatic aid response agreement it is typical to have fire engines from multiple jurisdictions on any given box alarm) with the Captain, a driver, a firefighter/paramedic, and a firefighter. Medic 428 is staffed by two firefighters, one paramedic and one EMT. Firehouse 28 is in the Fourth Battalion of Fairfax County and borders the City of Falls Church and Arlington County. The firehouse sits on Buffalo Ridge, a historical site where a Union camp (Fort Buffalo) once stood during the Civil War - hence the buffalo as our station mascot on the logo.
