First National Bank Building

Description

The First National Bank Building is a U-shaped, fourteen-story, historic steel structure building located on the corner of 16th and Farnam street in Downtown Omaha, Nebraska. The building was constructed in 1917. It was the original building for the First National Bank as well as the first high-rise building built in Omaha. At 210 feet, it is the 17th tallest building in the city and its unique structure makes it a landmark in downtown Omaha.Renovations in 2000 converted a majority of the building from office space to residential. Currently, the first floor acts as a lobby for residents of the building. A separate partition houses retail, restaurants and another separate entrance exists for the 27 offices located on the second and third floors. Floors four through fourteen contain 81 luxury one- and two-bedroom condominiums. When the building was remodeled and turned into condominiums, a library, gym, and basement storage were added.

I haven't been inside the building, but it looks amazing from the outside
For some bizarre reason, the National Education Association has a deal with this regional bank to be a preferred provider of mortgages. The NEA, as stated in their name, is a NATIONAL organization. Unfortunately, this rinky dink bank can’t write mortgages that would be useful to any working people in any moderately high cost areas. So if you’re in California, the New York metropolitan area, Washington DC metro, etc. you can forget about these guys being able to offer you a typical mortgage 20-25% down. And here’s the worst part: they don’t tell you about their limitations until AFTER you submit a mortgage application and AFTER they do a hard pull of your credit report. So all we got was a half hearted apology email and a reduction in our credit score from having wasted our time applying! How unprofessional.
My neighbor showed me a spam email stating someone tried to log onto his Facebook account. We looked up where this came from, contacted other helpers and found the IP address came from this building. Not good. Check your people.
I was interviewed in February 2015 for a non existent IT position. Par for the course for Omaha.
Very nice view.
