Fitchburg Art Museum

About

FAM is an engine for creativity, education, community building and fun!

Description

The Fitchburg Art Museum is one of the most treasured cultural institutions in Central New England and serves the Cities of Fitchburg and Leominster and surrounding communities in North Central Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.

FAM was founded in 1925, and its four-building complex, with over 20,000 square feet of exhibition space, features exhibitions from its art historical collections as well as special loan exhibitions focused on regional contemporary art. Collection strengths include American Art, African Art, and photography. FAM also features hands-on learning experiences for kids and families in our Discover Ancient Egypt, Global Africa, and contemporary art exhibitions.

FAM plays a vital role in the cultural life of the region. Area schools, community groups and artist organizations are featured in FAM’s Community Gallery, and the museum maintains active educational partnerships with public and private schools and Fitchburg State University. FAM also participates in efforts to stimulate the local creative economy, particularly by partnering in community-based festivals and public art projects.

Great midsized museum close to downtown Fitchburg. Parking is available on and off street. Admission is$9 for adults. There are multiple levels and buildings to the museum. They also showcase art made by students at local colleges, alongside rotating exhibits. I enjoyed their ancient Egyptian exhibit, and their displays on the history of Fitchburg’s paper mills
Really neat place. Full of amazing pieces of work from artists in New England. The woman at the front desk offered the wifi password without me even asking, so the staff was friendly and welcoming too.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
It was a small, but fun art museum with lots of rare artifactsEgyptian& African! We ended up spending over 2 hours with my kids6 &10 years old. It was also very quiet so we could enjoy the art at the museum without any distraction.
First time at any art museum. My grandbaby really wanted to go. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting. The Egyptian exhibit was a huge hit for my grandbaby. She also loved the South Africa exhibit. They were both interactive. It was a fun way to spend the afternoon.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
Fitchburg Art Museum is a gem! It's very affordable and has a lot of great pieces. There was a juried art exhibition which I loved! Students pay $5 dollars and AAA members have pay one get one free deal. I highly recommend to check this place out if you're near..friendly staff and free parking
Great visit on a Wednesday in June. Enjoyed educational Egyptian exhibit as well as provocative photography art by Raina Matar: Oceans At My Door on devastation of war upon one’s homeland. We enjoyed a walk to nearby restaurant El Bohio for authentic Caribbean cuisine.Visited onWeekdayWait time30–60 minReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$1–5
Another great museum! Definitely worth the trip, but be careful, the roads are narrow and steep to get up there. But well worth it!
Went last week with my son, happy that they're open again. Always something to see for everyone, there is just so much inspiring beautiful art work to see, a great way to spend time together with your family and friends.
Was expecting a bit of speech from the people were aware on the different aspects. No one can talk about the passion for what you do by humble share the history and path take you there!
