The FIU Department of Athletic Training includes our Doctor of Athletic Training degree, Master of Science in Athletic Training degree, and AT Services.
The AT program at FIU is uniquely positioned to educated and graduate minority athletic trainers to meet the needs of the growing minority population both nationally and locally. It is the goal of the FIU athletic training program to teach the basic and advanced knowledge and skills required to be successful in the athletic training profession through didactic and clinical education. Students who graduate from the program become dedicated professionals involved in the athletic training profession in terms of continuing education, leadership, and professional responsibility.
The mission of the Professional MS Athletic Training Program involves a comprehensive educational approach in preparing students for a successful career in the athletic training profession. The mission is consistent with the mission of Florida International University. The following are components of the Professional MS Athletic Training Program mission:
1. To teach the basic and advanced knowledge and skills required to be successful in the athletic training profession through didactic and clinical education components.
2. To instill critical thinking, problem solving, ethical reasoning abilities, and interpersonal skills required to be successful in the athletic training profession with regard to working with the physically active population.
3. To develop scholarly practitioners who appreciate advancing knowledge and critically examine the body of knowledge for evidence-based practice as a foundation for the delivery of athletic training care.
4. To encourage students to become dedicated and professionally involved in the athletic training profession in terms of continuing education, leadership, and professional responsibility.
5. To cultivate knowledgeable Athletic Training Students who qualify to sit for the Board of Certification (BOC) exam.
