One of the many global initatives offered by the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) at FIU.
The annual Summer (3-week) program provides students with global communication and international experience.
There is an increasing demand for professional communicators who possess the knowledge and experience to develop and implement an integrated communications program at the international level. This is especially true in the tourism industry, where integrating public relations, direct marketing, advertising, web
design, and electronic communications is required for a successful program. Tourism journalism is also a growing field that requires special skills to highlight a destination in
compelling and attractive ways.
The focus of this course will therefore be the application of communications principles to the tourism industry in a special promotion of Seville to an American audience.
The course will also emphasize the cultural and historical elements of Seville, of Spain, and of Europe as part of the
knowledge required to develop an effective communications program.
