Me and my client thought this Cleveland Railroad bridge was so cool- it deserved a painting. Viewpoint is taken from rooftop across Columbus rd. Painted by Grace Schlea Studios- local Cleveland oil painter
EAST LANDING Commemorating the Permanent Center of Gravity Dear Visitor, You are standing in the actual place that marks the Cleveland Centre of 1833. This compass placement on the Cuyahoga River welcomes the immigrants from the Ohio Erie Canal who came to build their futures. As you study this location, which is situated at the sunrise point named Gravity Place, you can feel that you become centered too. Notice that the streets are laid out in a sun burst pattern that fans west to where the sun sets, and are named for the seasons as well as the nationalities of the settlers. What an exciting time this must have been for the people gathering together to build our city. Founded by John W. Willey, first mayor of Cleveland.
I love bridges bias disclaimer. The Flats Industrial Railroad Bridge is between the Columbus Road Bridge and the Old River Road Bridge/Carter Road Bridge pairing just down river from Collision Bend. The Flats have some wonderful names. There is a railroad engine parked at the North end of the lift bridge.
Good spot to chill and relax , love to watch the big ships go thru here..
