Junction Cafe 11 S Cage Blvd, Pharr, TX 78577 Total Spent: About $25 to $30 per family. This morning we ventured off to find a place to have breakfast with the family. We had our sights sent on El Rancho Grande Mexican Restaurant and Cantina but the wait was 45 to 1hr and we had some very hungry people. We headed out to Junction Cafe. Because we where a large party we got sat in their back area. It took about 10 minutes for our waitress to acknowledge us and get our drink orders. Unfortunately another 15 minutes to actually get our drink order to the table. It was at this time the waitress took our food order. We all ordered basic dishes. Nothing to outrageous. I think the most complicated dish was chilaquiles con pollo. Unfortunately we did not all get our dishes at the same time. We got them in waves and my son drew the short end of the stick and was served at the very end after most of us finished our meals. His meal was 2 potato egg tacos with a side of beans. Super simple to make and it took the longest to get to the table. Our dishes where somewhat well served for the money. My biscuits and gravy with sausage where good. Presentation was good. My wife had the migas locas which is migas with chrizo. She said it was ok. My brother in law had The Trucker Plate. To much bell pepper, not enough meat. My niece had the menudo. She really liked it. Big chunks. Tasty. My sister in law had the Barbacoa Plate. She didn't think it was good. Too much fat. Not enough for two tacos. It does make a good lite breakfest however. My nephew had chilaquiles con pollo. The runny sause made his tortillas too soft when he made tacos. However the cheese and pollo where good. The major down fall of this experience was the long wait for our meals. It could have been that they where under staffed or the fact that there was too many people... however why would it take almost 20 minutes to serve 2 potato and egg tacos? Our waitress was in a great mood; smiled. She did her best under the circumstances.
I have passed this restaurant for years and regret not stopping sooner, the food was delicious, I ordered the lengua plate and at first my lengua looked over cooked but once I tried it the lengua was delicious and not dry. The tortillas were perfect size as they were not the blanket size. Everyone else served, and they were really good. plate was well served, and the service was fast, and the waitress was attentive. I love the feel of the restaurant and decor. Only draw back is that the chips are not homemade, but other than that, I'm excited to return to try something different. Parking: There are parking is off the street
I eat lunch there almost every Wednesday, the service is friendly and the food is delicious!
Food was good, but our server went around grabbing our purses and making comments about how expensive they were. When it came to paying she over charged us and refused to let us pay at the register so we wouldn’t notice the over charge. Please be cautious not all the waitresses are like this but some are very sneaky.Food: 4/5
30 minutes in and all I can say is the the water, lemonade and chips are ok. Friday night and you think management could do better to provide prompt service. Our waitress, apologized once and it seems that service is only provided to regulars. This place has been a Pharr favorite but fails to impress new customers. This will be the last time I come here for service at the DMV is faster than here.
Nope, not going there again. Wife and I came to eat after church and let me tell you, we waited at our table for 5 minutes before we even got acknowledged by any waitresses. Then when we did, waitress gets our drinks order only to move on to next table of 6 and grabs their order making us wait even longer. We waited patiently for our drinks instead we just added our food order as waitress was walking past to speed things up but still had to wait forever and a day for our food. We finally get our food and find out that our food was microwaved! C'mon! We had burgers btw. They have signs that read " good food takes time" not the case at this restaurant.
The place is really nice inside, i like the theme of the station. The breakfast here is okay, the prices are also okay. I ordered the huevos rancheros and for 5.99 you get 2 eggs, potatoes, refried beans and a fried corn tortillathe bacon was extra. The eggs were almost cooked perfectly over medium, the salsa for the eggs was tasty, the beans were okay, the potatoes were just warm and soggy no seasoning added very bland, the refried tortilla under the eggs was pretty good, the bacon was terrible it had a strange taste, it wasn't warm and it was tough, I did not enjoy it. The flour tortilla i got was very hard very badly made/cooked, the corn tortillas however were really good. The staff was very friendly and the place was relatively clean. Overall a decent place for breakfast, for the price i would recommend adding a single piece of bacon, sausage or ham to add a meat to the plate.
Came for lunch around 1 pm, the lunch crowd was over and had a great lunch. Got the crispy tacos, this time around. The menu is awesome, can't wait to visit again and try something new.Food: 5/5
I will never return. As I was finishing my breakfast a couple came in with a small dog in a baby carrier and sat in a booth with the dog's head/face at the tableside. Totally unacceptable. I love my dogs but definitely not at the table or in a restaurant!Food: 3/5
Hello people, I recently moved back home from Minnesota to Weslaco and was brought here to cast iron restaurant by my sisters. This place reminds me of little cafes back in Minnesota where you are treated like your family. The food is excellent I will continue to come here.Come try it.
