Floral Park Historical Society http://www.floralparkhistorical.org helps protect and celebrate the rich history of Floral Park through events, trips, museum exhibit, archive, volunteer/member opportunities & more.
The activities of the Floral Park Historical Society encourage residents and future residents to become a part of Floral Park's collective history by living, working, raising families and enjoying the fruits of the American Dream in Floral Park. Floral Park is an incorporated village located in western Nassau County, Long Island, New York, and was incorporated in 1908. Founder of Floral Park, John Lewis Childs, established the first seed catalog business in America and became a NY State Senator, author and world-famous collector of ornithic (bird) artifacts.
The Floral Park Historical Society was established in late 1999 to increase knowledge of and interest in all subjects relating to Floral Park’s history. The society promotes historical research and educates village residents as to the history of Floral Park and preserves for posterity places, buildings, landmarks and objects of historical interest in Floral Park. In addition, the Society acquires by purchase, gift or device, many historic articles.
To share historic information and to raise funds for the Society's activities and preservation efforts, the following types of items are available:
history book and video; a series of wood replicas of historic and present-day buildings and homes; postcards and prints with historic images and illustrations of landmarks and floral subjects from the Village and from John Lewis Child's seed company catalogs; and Society logoed pins and notepads.
