I never got to meet the doctor so this is aimed toward the office staff. It’s already an unfortunate experience to have to seek the help of a fertility doctor. An unkind receptionist just makes the whole process that much worse. I made an appointment for a consult. I was pleased to be able to get in so soon. I did not hear from the clinic about my appointment except for a text to confirm my appointment. We arranged childcare for our daughter and my husband and I rearranged our day to be there for this appointment. All of this just to find out that it would be $400 just for consult. Apparently our insurance doesn’t cover fertility. That’s fine. However, I was really upset that no one from this office told me of the price in advance. The receptionist had a big attitude with me and argued with me that she personally called me and spoke with me and informed me of the price prior to the appointment. She really mad me feel like I was being a problem. I wasn’t expecting any exceptions to be made for me or anything but when I expressed my frustrations about not being notified, she was very combative and rude. I told her to cancel my appointment and turned around and left. This is not about the $400. If I had expected it, I would’ve planned for it. Honestly, you would think that their staff would be extra compassionate considering the circumstances people are in to be in a fertility clinic. I really hope the doctors at this clinic see this and how their staff treats their patients. When we reconsider fertility, it won’t be at this clinic purely because of the office staff. I was pretty bummed because I was really looking forward to working with Dr. Sanchez as I heard great things.
This is review is directed at the process not the staff. The staff was all very nice and I felt did their jobs wonderful. The problem here is the process for fertility treatment. When I 1st met with the Dr he took out a piece of paper and wrote a million different ways it could be my fault as a woman and filled the entire sheet of paper, and at the very bottom of the paper wrote possibly a male issue. He never asked if we had done testing prior, which we did so we already knew it was a male factor...Then as for treatment of an IUI they have limited hours. The Dr told me that you just need to figure it out if you want to get pregnant and if anything falls on the weekend then essentially too bad. They do "timed relations" and hope for the best. The entire process is not done with proper monitoring of your follicles either. They do 1 ultrasound and pick a date and don't check prior to doing the injection to see if the follicle did actually grow to the maturity needed. I met w someone at shady grove, which my OB recommended. The process is much more fact and medically driven, not just a guess, pump with hormones, and hope. They will also do treatment over the weekend since there is no way to garuntee your follicles are ready M-F. What is upsetting is my insurance only covers 3 IUIs and I already did two unsuccessful treatments w Florida Fertility. Maybe it was done at the right time, but there is no way to tell based on the process and protocol they use. With Shady Grove the process to get started is long and even could push you off a month from starting but it is so worth it to have it done right. I wasted 7 months with Florida Fertility and now I feel confident that at least I know I have the best chance no matter what the outcome. Thank you Tammy and Mandy for always being kind and doing a good job with the protocol you are given.
My wife and I spent the last six months working with this clinic. At first everything seemed great. They were able to get us in quickly, do our IUI procedure etc. After finding out we were pregnant we did routine blood tests. Our first ultrasound showed a gestational sac measuring a week behind. The second round of tests showed my progesterone levels dropping. We requested more blood work to keep an eye on it. The clinic deemed it unnecessary. We got blood work done with my primary care which showed decreasing HCG and progesterone indicating miscarriage. I called the clinic with these results and to tell them I had begun bleeding. They said they could not trust the results and just wait until your next appointment. At our next appointment I was treated for a miscarriage. The tech, Tammy, was cold and said "it didn't grow, so, it's not good". After recovering from the miscarriage we did another IUI. Each time we came into the office Tammy was always cold and borderline rude. My wife was not allowed in the cycle scan, but was for pregnancy ultrasound which is in the same exam room. I was not allowed to call my wife or take pictures of the follicles, which we were allowed to do our first cycle scan. We joined the Femaseed study for our next two cycles. The medical research team was super informative and helpful throughout our process with them. Our last two IUI procedures were similar to our second one. We called to speak to the doctor or nurse about our timing for IUI. Based on our process we thought maybe that's why it was not working. The doctors and nurses would not listen or even consider changing any of the procedures even though we were concerned about missing our window. We decided we would try another home insemination along with IUI in office to help increase our chances, since the office could not get us in during the time frame we wanted 24 hours after trigger. When we called to arrange picking up our sperm, Stephanie scoffed saying that the doctor had to sign off on release of our sperm, that we own. Amazingly, when they called back after talking to the doctor they were able to magically get us in that afternoon. In approaching time to consider IVF we had a consultation with Dr. Fonticiella. She was very informative regarding the entire process. We wanted second opinions so had consultations at two other clinics. When requesting to have our records sent we got the run around. There were constant excuses regarding copying and emailing. I sent a request on Tuesday morning the week of Thanksgiving. I was told they would not get the records out to the one clinic until the following Wednesday. I followed up with that clinic, they still have not received our records. I put in another request last Thursday for records and was assured it was sent that same morning. I called today and spoke to Stephanie, who scoffed and told us the records were sent she sent them herself. I also heard another staff member in the background scream "YES we did." I patiently told them the other clinic didn't receive them and asked if they could resend. Once again she scoffed and rudely said "Not today I can't." So... they never made digital copies of the records? I doubt the clinic will ever get all the records they need. Overall, it has not been a great experience. With the amount of money we've spent working with this clinic it's disheartening that we feel unheard, unimportant, and that we are clueless when it comes to my body and the process of fertility. I called the clinic manager to express these issues and she hasn't returned my call.
I had really a not great experience with this office. My doctor was Dr. Fonticiella, who seemed nice enough. It wasn’t really a discussion as to how we’d work together though, but rather a statement of how things will proceed. They wanted to skip right to HSG and then when I asked about to possibility of pelvic ultrasound, the tech stated, “if you don’t want to do the HSG you’ll have to sign a refusal of service” even when I requested an appointment to discuss with the doctor. The tech also could not find a vein and I had to go to Labcorp, who had no issue other than most of my available veins had been poked through before getting there. The billing person also didn’t know what my copay would be for my insurance when I tried to pay it on my way out, and there was no billing discussion as a function of onboarding as a patient. Overall, would it recommend Florida Fertility Institute. I am seeing a different specialist now as we moved to a different state, and it is honestly night and day by comparison.
The thing with this office is that they play the run around game. The person who checks you out once you leave especially has absolutely no idea what they're doing, what co pays will be, and every time you ask a question it's a wishy washy answer etc. Their go to answer for everything money wise is to call your insurance even though there are things the office staff should be able to tell you. Once I left without a receipt for my visit and was told I had a credit and was good to leave and I then lo and behold I get a bill in the mail a few months later telling me I actually had a balance to pay for the day I left without the receipt. Never leave without a receipt and make sure you know what they're doing. Keep a file. Also, your information on what care you will be getting can change depending on if you decide to get an iui or ivf. It's like there are two different offices within one office always giving you different information. No clear answers. Also it seems like they rather you pay cash for services instead of if you might have insurance coverage for certain things bc I'm sure that way they get their money faster. I just want to know if I go xyz route what it will cost and I have yet to get a clear answer. Perhaps look elsewhere for your fertility care
Dr. Sanchez and his staff are amazing. Dr. and the nurses are very helpful throughout the process. It was a struggle in the beginning when I didn't get a positive result the first try but with patience and support from the Dr and the nurses, everything worked out for the best. Today my son is one week old! I feel so blessed and it was all thanks to Dr. Sanchez. I understand that it may be expensive, but in the end it is worth it.
Dr. Sanchez and his staff are amazing! They were helpful and informative from the beginning. My husband and I had to go through IVF for our second child they made the process easy and answered any and all questions I had throughout. We ended up only having 1 good embryo at the end for implantation and I am happy to say we are now 11 weeks pregnant with a baby boy! We could not be happier with the entire staff and experience! Highly recommend for anyone having trouble conceiving.
Dr. Sanchez is terrific. He is very knowledgeable , sensitive, and informative… I immediately felt at ease – and felt confident in my receiving expert medical care. Staff was great too especially Tammy. I walked away, very impressed w. the overall experience. HIGHLY recommend. Dr. Sanchez is a great doctor! He’s very understanding and listens to your concerns. He takes time with the patient to help them with their health issues! I highly recommend him to anyone. Dannibel
Dr. Sanchez is an absolutely amazing doctor who has blessed us with the opportunity of being parents to a beautiful baby boy. Dr. Sanchez is kind, patience, knowledgeable, compassionate, understanding and full of personality which made things less stressful during the IVF process. We are so thankful to him and his staff for everything they have done for us.
I love Florida Fertility Institute. We received wonderful care with Dr. Sanchez and our entire ivf team. He diagnosed a male factor problem in my spouse that our previous Dr. did not. With that and my PCOS is why for 2-3 years we had no luck getting pregnant by ourselves. We started ivf in October and now 5 months later I’m 13 weeks pregnant with our first child. I know everyone’s story/circumstances will be different. I truly believe and trust in Dr. Sanchez’s knowledge in reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
