Beautiful marina on Mobile Bay! Sunset Point Cafe has the best bouillabaisse!
I've kept my sailboat at Fly Creek Marina for more than 12 years, and I offer my recommendation and full endorsement based on that experience. When I am in residence, I sail from the marina four to five times a week, often with guests from around the world, and Fly Creek Marina's beauty and professional service never fails to impress. The marina offers both an intimate setting and the friendly atmosphere one associates with a private, family-owned, marina. I often work and write aboard my boat and that allows me to observe --and appreciate -- both the natural serenity of the marina and the quiet attention to detail the management and staff bring to their work. I've heard Fly Creek compared favorably with many well-known marinas, and my nautically-savvy guests often express envy at my good fortune to find a safe harbor both from storms and club politics. Equally as important to me is my trust in the marina's management and staff. When I am called away on assignments often overseas and for prolonged periods I know my boat will be in skilled hands and cared for by people who exercise sound and experienced judgment in both fair and stormy weather. Fly Creek Marina is also impressive for its continuing dedication to preserving and protecting the marine environment. Never has that been more evident that during the recent renovation and reconstruction that continues to transform the marina into one of the true gems of the Eastern Shore. I confess that after a decade in the same slip, I was initially apprehensive of staying throughout the project. I knew some slip-hopping would be needed to accommodate the realities and seasonal nature of nature of engineering in a marine environment, but the staff has been unfailingly kind and accommodating. In the end, sailors can handle whatever comes their way, and staying was its own reward because the renovation at this writing nearly complete offered a fascinating look into the complexity of such work. Full marks to the Fly Creek Marina owners, management, and staff for their forward-looking vision and dedication to crafting a marina that respects and enhances rather then simply exploits the natural beauty of its settings. Words are not needed to recommend the sunsets, lingering twilight, and soft moonlight...
Got our fuel on the water. I’m giving five stars even tho they don’t sell 2 stroke oil lol
I have had my boat here for over 2 years now and couldn’t be any more satisfied. From day one the owner and staff here instantly made me feel like family. They do an excellent job maintaining the facility and ensuring your vessel is safe. The recent renovation has really put this marina in a new class and added new life to the property as well. The atmosphere is absolutely one of the most rewarding benefits of storing your boat here. The scenery is great and the restaurant is amazing. Keep it up guys!!!!
Nice restaurant with good hours, but only one bathroom and no showers or laundry for boaters. Probably a fine marina for locals who live here or nearby but not for transient boaters passing through. Loopers coming from the TomBigbee River have been anchoring out for multiple days before arriving because there are no marinas for the 200+ miles south of Demopolis. A shower would have felt so good...
We often ride our bikes down to watch the sun set. We usually go to the end of the South side. Its quite and no one bothers us. Its nice to look at the boats. We spoke with the owner one day about nothing in particular but she was very nice and was happy to have us enjoying the scenery of the property. Its an alternative to the yacht club since the club gate is usually closed and the club is for members only.
Pro: Ambiance very quaint. Watching the sunset at the marina was absolutely beautiful. Very calming... this is probably the only thing that the cafe has going for them. Con: The worst service I ever had across the bay. I will never eat here again. I understand when a place is packed that wait time will be outrageous but it was not even busy. Steady yes, not busy. It was a 30min wait to be seated at a table and it took another hour before someone asked us what we wanted to drink! The only reason we even got that is because we had to stop the hostess and tell her we hadn't gotten a waiter yet and its been an hour. It took 10 - 15mins for someone to asks for our drinks. And when I finally got served by a waiter, not our waiter because apparently no one was assigned to our table... he seemed stoned and didn't know what he was doing. No communication among staff and food was mediocre. Don't waste your time or money.
Not a bad place, overall. Good amenities. Knowledgeable staff. Nice little boaters lounge, complete with shower, head and laundry facilities. I kept a sailboat there for about a year and a half. After the first year, I asked to move to another spot, further away from the restaurant and the noise / kids / rock throwing that comes with that. I explained that I was considering trying a different marina, if they could not move me. The were very happy to accommodate me, and moved me at the start of my new year long contract. The contract was a bit, unprofessional, as the price and slip location were incorrect. This was corrected, by simply scratching it out and writing the correct numbers over the incorrect one. All fine and good, but I should have recognized it as the start of some issues. However, not long after I paid the first months of the year lease, they moved me right back to where I started. Seriously, I was one slip more west than I had been to start with. They did not ask me. They did not inform me before hand. They did not give me an option to cancel my lease. They simply, without warning or notification, got on my sailboat, moved it, and then informed me. I sold the boat at that point, three months into a year long lease that in my opinion they broke. Keep in mind I had paid six months ahead. I was told they were being nice and would not charge me for the next six months. I will be buying another boat, we are currently looking for a trawler to do the Great Loop. I will NOT be coming back to this Marina.
The atmosphere is probably better than the food, but the food and service are still really good. You can sit outside on picnic tables in the marina. Great place to eat outside.
I don't have a sailboat kept there. I just go to take a long walk for exercise and watch the vessels tip and rock in the wind. Very relaxing. People even walk their dogs here. It's quite big and stays busy throughout the day. Limited parking.
