This location has, by far, a greater variety of international food than any other store in Sarnia.

Storefront needs some TLC. Store was nice but too crowded.

Prices are a little bit high but often have discounts on vegan products as they don't sell as quickly here.

Great prices, good staff, great layout, reasonable prices, lots of parking. The workers will always help you out and point you in the right direction to what it is you're looking for. Best grocery store in the south end!

Dirty, wilted produce, rotten meat, beggars, garbage customer service... Worst grocery store I have ever used hands down. They sell expired meat with a label that says it's not expired, their produce, especially lettuce is often wilted and turning brown, and in general the place is pretty unsanitary. They also seem to have no problem allowing tweakers to beg for cash right outside the entrance. I've spent way too much money on this disgusting place over the years, but being poor, sometimes you have to make sacrifices. However, after my most recent experience with their rude staff refusing to accept rolled loonies and quarters for a purchase of about $35 dollars and trying to force me to use their coin star machine so they can skim even more money from me, I won't be spending another dime at food basics. I'd suggest, if you don't want your house smelling like rancid pork, having to cut rotten spots off your vegetables, or be harassed by tweakers on top of dealing with rude and lazy staff in a petri dish of a grocery store, I'd suggest you shop elsewhere.

Their international aisle*s* is the reason to come here. They have low prices on fruit especially seasonally. The dairy prices are also really fair for the most part. Keep up the great work!
