Nice to find a big outlet of Food Basics in Stratford. I was happy to see halal options as well. Keep serving all communities around.
Good store. Well stocked. Customer service could be better. I visit regularly. You can find major Indian grocery stuffs here. Variety of basmati rices, Patna rice, Sella rice, lentils, beans and many peas varieties. Different flours are there mainly corn, rice and wheat. Overall good store, lots of parking and affordable price.
Mostly good deals. But you need to stop with the buy 2 or buy 3 deals to get better pricing, as that is why I stopped shopping at No Frills!!
Good deals on stuff I needed. They had products that were on sale there on a Sunday, which for some stores seems to be an issue
The last local bastion of reasonably priced groceries.
Right now they're under renovation and it's starting to take on a great new appearance. This is where I've bought most of my groceries in the last 8 years BUT I have one big problem with their new update. At the entrance door, there's a locked gate that opens only when a person walks through the door. Today there was an elderly lady who was locked out because of a tech fault. After I waved my bag under the camera we got it to open. What a disgrace to your customers that they need to rely on your glitchy computer system to be granted access! Please rip out that electronic garbage and let people walk in the old fashioned way. That's literally the most unwelcoming thing you can do, to lock out random customers. Don't blame the tech: take the responsibility on yourself for installing your lock out machine.
Was not pleased although prices are a bit cheaper on certain items here, I have not had a great experience with food basics in over 5 years. Every time that I do decide to try and do some shopping there something also makes me regret my decision. Recently the latest regret was going and only buying a few items one of which was a head of lettuce. After practically digging through the entire pile of heads of lettuce I finally found a head that didn't look as bad as the rest as most of the heads of lettuce had started turning brown. Thinking I got lucky and found the one head of lettuce that was actually green and decent. I got home to find out that inside was a totally different story. And With that the head of lettuce that ended up going to the trash had cost me $3.99 and it's not the fact that it's $4 down the drain it's the principle of how are you going to sell a product like that with pride.
no shopping baskets and the shopping carts are HUGE. very inconvenient if you only want a few things.
Great prices but they are higher than they used to be. Often find you have to go right away to get many items that are on sale or they will be out of stock. They need to carry more product for sale items.
We returned from a trip, and on January 3rd jumped into the Stratford Food Basics to pick up some items to restock. I was shocked to see the state of the store. The fresh meat section was completely wiped out. Many isles were only stocked to maybe 75%. Everything looked unkempt and the cashier couldn’t even squeeze out the slightest smile. She looked like she was about to throw in the towel and walk away. It was a disappointing experience. Mind you, I realize we were at the tail end of a long holiday season but still, I was sure hoping for a little more professionalism in the overall management of the store. Will shop elsewhere in town again.
