Feeding hungry children on the weekend so they can return to school Monday ready to learn.
Our goal is to provide the hungry and food insecure children in our community with healthy food for the weekends. On Fridays, at each of our schools, children in our program are discreetly given a bag of food.
Each bag of food contains 4 nutritiously balanced meals, consisting of healthy proteins, fruits, vegetables and complex carbohydrates. We provide items that do not require refrigeration, stoves, dishes or flatware. Food bags weigh less than five pounds, making them easier for children to carry. The bags are placed in the child’s backpacks in a closed-door meeting. Each week, we discreetly provide a nutritious bag of food to over 400 children in 14 of our local schools.
To provide nutritious meals to chronically hungry school-aged children in our community.
"Food for Thought is a non-profit organization working to eradicate childhood hunger. We provide weekend take home bags of shelf stable food items to children at-risk of food insecurity.Food For Thought does not provide food distribution services to the public."
