Forest Street Little Free Library was opened in August 2014 for three things: Community. Literacy. Advocacy. We love our community.
We opened Forest Street Little Free Library #16980 in August 2014 after raising $132 on a GoFundMe campaign. It was just enough to get it started. In one month of having our Little Free Library open, we met more of our neighbors and community members than in the seven years previous. The LFL concept is one that is rapidly multiplying, bringing book, fun and education to "book deserts" around the the world, and helping neighbors talk to neighbors. We love this mission.
