I went to the park before sunrise to see it rise over the Atlantic. A surprising number of people had the same idea. Gorgeous vies of back-lit islands made for beautiful photos. The gazebo even made a nice frame. I then took the stais down to the waterfront. More loveliness!
WOW! Expansive! Maintained! Incredible! Adjectives! Thesaurus! Awesome! Enjoyable! WOAH ! I was finishing a trail when I came upon this park. There is so much to explore as well as just sitting down to relax and take in the great views of Casco Bay and Fort Gorges. There are several war memorials and a memorial to 9-11. A playground, basketball court, tennis courts and a community garden are nearby. Green hills, where people were sitting or laying down relaxing . There is parking either on the street above the park or at the bottom of the park. You can access the park from the rail trail along the waterfront. Trash cans are available but I still found litter . Fortunately, it was very, very limited. I recommend a visit to this park! If you don't mind hills that are not alive to the sound of music , stop by. Playground: Playground available. Restrooms: There was one facility available next to the basketball court. It might actually be a part of the Eastern Promenade. Dog-friendliness: Dogs are allowed but must be leashed and cleaned up afterwards. Please don't leave a bag of droppings on the memorials. Picnic area: I don't remember seeing picnic tables but you can spread out a blanket, relax and eat!
Beautiful place to visit. You should plan to spend an entire day as it is so peaceful. Playground: Incredible view. Restrooms: Clean and open to the public. Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly. Picnic area: Walk with your picnic blanket or use one of their benches. You may want to spend an entire day.
Awesome place. Breath taking . You can see for forts from here. So much to do here. Just relax. Love to come back foverever
Right on the water and convenient location to downtown Portland. Really cool vibe with a lot of local families and small children as well. No public restrooms to be found, so maybe I missed them but either way I'm knocking off a star for that nonsense! Restrooms: Not a thing. Dog-friendliness: Very dog friendly, with lots of open space.
Beautiful area to walk around. Great views of the bay. Dog-friendliness: Dogs were on and off leash Picnic area: Picnic tables were available
A surprising hillside view! The area is huge. There is so much to see from this point. Got to meet the daughter of the lovely girl who baptized the ship from the great history in display before us on that lookout. We were destined to meet them there and hear the history on this fort area.. the waterfront was a very relaxing area.
On a gorgeous July afternoon, one of the most beautiful places to be. Easy parking, lots of benches. Off leash dog area and amazing views of the boats on Casco Bay.
Beautiful place for a picnic. Wide open green spaces. Excellent view of Casco Bay looking down at Fort Gorges. Also a great place for a walk or run.
Awesome views of the coast and upclose to lighthouse. Restrooms: Limited restrooms Picnic area: Many picnic spots
