Classes were originally held on the second floor of the old Franklin Grade School at the corner of West Mountain and Howes Street. Almost 40 students were in the first classes at the school. By 1903, the need for a new building was apparent. At this time, the high school was moved to a new building on Meldrum Street, where the present Lincoln Center stands. Additions were made to this building in 1915 and 1921. In 1924, a new building which currently stands at 1400 Remington Street was constructed. Classes were held in this building from 1925 to 1995. In 1953, a large gymnasium was built on the north side of the building. A science addition was added to the south end in the mid-1980s.Due to increasing student numbers, a new Fort Collins High School was built at the corner of Horsetooth and Timberline Roads at 3400 Lambkin Way, and opened in the fall of 1995. The enrollment at Fort Collins High School during the 2015-16 school year was 1,621 students. Approximately 30,000 students have graduated since the first class of 1893.School cultureEach year, Fort Collins High School students host Spread the Love Week, which is designed to make each student feel included. During the 2015-16 school year, students dedicated the week to raising enough money to grant the wish of a local child with a terminal illness through the Make-a-Wish Foundation. To foster a community spirit, the school also offers service learning classes, including a special Give Next class, in which students practice philanthropy to local nonprofit organizations.

I attended FCHS from 2009-2011 and it was a very positive experience for me. I took advantage of the school's AP program, which was incredibly singular with overall great teachers many incredible ones to whom I owe a lot. It helped me prepare for college and enter with over 50 credits of college from my AP tests. The AP academics at the very least are incredibly strong at the school. The music program also was and still is absolutely phenomenal, especially the orchestra, as is the theatre program, school newspaper, and other arts. Definitely a school worth going to and should not be overlooked for students wondering which Fort Collins high school to attend.
I transferred from Mountain View High school from Loveland to Fort Collins High School. I'm a junior so it was very hard to fit in from my experience. However, everyone is very welcoming and this school has a well education system. Another reason to love is FCHS is that the programs are very well organized and thought out. I recommend this school
Wonderful, caring teachers, clean and modern building, great school overall! My son loves going here and as a parent I am pleased with the the staff, curriculum, and extracurricular activities available to my child.
This school is amazing and I highly recommend it to all looking at high schools in Fort Collins. The teachers are amazing with some of the highest AP Scores in the state. Go Lambkins!
Good people, and everyone is really welcoming, the staff are great, and there's a bunch of clubs and extra curricular to get involved with, love this school
As a person who visited on a day when no one was there, the building and design was very nice. I don't know about the education standards there, but in general it looks nice.
Best experience ever I recommend it over any other school
