We celebrated my mom's 80th birthday at the lodge and had a wonderful time. The lodge was clean and we really enjoyed the indoor market lights. Penny was very easy to work with and all of the rangers were very friendly. My niece loved the playground and when we went outside to take pictures, we saw a family of sand cranes including a baby! Thank you for maintaining such a lovely park for all to enjoy!
What a beautiful park! I fell in love with this place. So quiet and peaceful. Lots of picnic tables and grills to use. Restrooms on site. Some nice trails. Decent playground for kids in the shade of the trees. You can't go wrong spending a few hours here. The view to the lake is so relaxing. I highly recommend you at least stop by to see the wonderful natural settings of this park.
Loved our visit to this state park! We visited on a Saturday in April. It was very quiet with only one other car while we visited. I cannot believe how much wild life we saw. There are beautiful, clean facilities and many trails ranging from 20 minutes to about 1 hour to hike or stroll. The water lilies are beautiful and the owl was my favorite. There is no actual fort anymore, but plenty of history to read about. We have a state park pass, but the entry fee of $3 is VERY reasonable for such a great park!
Pretty Little Park but not too exciting. Didn't get to see too many birds. Even though the ranger said they were supposed to be quite a variety. There was a giant eagle's nest in a box . I had never seen that before. You have to stay at least 20 ft away from the nest. Supposedly if they get disturbed. The eagles won't come back. What I don't understand is why did they put the playground next to the eagles nest. When I arrived kids were running all over screaming. If you're worried about the eagles move the playground.
Enjoyed our visit. The hiking trails were in good shape. The lake was very pretty as well.
Fort Cooper is a beautiful park, upon entry we met Mr. Goodness the Ranger. He was gracious and took the time to describe the park and it's features to us. He genuinely cares. It has short & long trails, also a scenic lake to take a canoe out on if you so desire. In the vicinity is an awesome recreation hall where events are held. It has a nice playground and picnic tables near it to enjoy while the children play. The restrooms are kept immaculately clean! Yay! Oak trees are abundant and shade the entire area so well. It is very relaxing to just sit quietly and soak in nature. It is also a historical place where troops built the fort & lived.
Great family park! It has a great old fashion play ground complete with a merry-go-round! My step kids have never seen one very quiet and peaceful, they have grills and picnic tables throughout the park. Reminds me of the parks back in my day...there is plenty of room for the family or a large group. Clean restrooms and changing rooms, as well as an outside shower. And looks like canoe rentals. All and all I found it a great place to visit and will definitely return.
One of the best places to grab your bicycle and take a ride. We also took a boat ride on the lake and a person cannot describe the natural beauty this place has to offer, hated to leave there and go back home we will be back very soon
Awesome place to have our daughter's wedding shower. We we had the use of the lake house, pavillion, gazebo and playground, the area is beautiful with huge oaks and natural Florida fauna. We had an amazing time! Also the staff was super friendly and helpful! Playground: Nice playground Restrooms: Very clean Dog-friendliness: Dogs are allowed Picnic area: Huge pavilion with grill plus other grills throughout park
Beautiful State Park. Nice picnic area with grills, tables and a playground. Access to the lake for fishing. Swimming area was closed during our visit. Nice hiking trails. History kiosks strategically located to let you enjoy the facilities while learning about the park history. Access to the Withlacoochee State trail. Highly recommend a visit to this park if you are visiting Inverness or Floral City.
