Memorial service for Veterans Day was a very beautiful service, lasting a bit over an hour. The weather couldn't have been more perfect for this event. I was really surprised about how many people showed up and on time. Cookies lemonade and coffee were offered afterwards, and time was spent honoring soldiers at their grave sites.
Fort Custer National Cemetery IS the Best U.S. National Cemetery In THIS finest of Nations United States of America; Amen & IMO. Love You: Michael Borkowski, Valeria Filipski Borkowski, & Fort Custer, MI et. al. - locations/facilities/spaces & named places; amen..
A beautiful cemetery for veterans, their spouses, and orphaned children. The Patriotism was beautiful too! A beautiful outdoor small service, due to Covid.
We just returned from a service for my brother. We were disappointment by the brevity and the manner in which the service was rushed. Families came from as far away as Kentucky and the tristate area for an approximate 10 minute service; introduction, a 3 gun salute, taps, refolding and presentation of the flag and gift of a scroll. A minister/representative from the funeral home was going to do a couple of Bible readings and a woman representative came forward, said a few words about how we should support his loved ones then ask us to depart as quickly as possible because there was another service to follow. Oh yes, if we returned four hours later we could go to the grave site after the interment. We were stunned by the “mechanical” atmosphere. We’re thankful for the veterans who were part of the service. We simply hoped and expected more.
A beautiful National Cemetery. The Memorial and Veteran's Day ceremonies are very good. The staff and grounds people are the best.
The grounds are beautiful and meticulously maintained. However- after my sister in laws 20 minute service today, we were told to get into our cars and leave because there was another funeral, and the woman who told us we had to leave made a joke of the fact that there was tree trimming being done on the grounds. Even as we were walking to our cars- KNOWING they asked us to leave immediately, the gentleman working at the cemetery felt us we needed to get into our cars and leave. No time to hug our loved ones, no time to say a single word. Just get out of here now. Distasteful.
I really wanted to thank the people performing the ceremony while we were there, but didn't get the opportunity before we left for the memorial. As I understand it they are all volunteers, and I want to thank them for the professionalism and solemnity they showed performing a ceremony that they must have done many times. I was touched and proud of my dad as I was reminded of his military service.
Greatly disappointed at the sloppy and hurried nature of my best friends funeral today. There are multiple shelters so there was no need to rush the family off in order to accommodate another service. The rifle salute was a mess...it sounded like machine gun fire instead of the three distinct volleys a veteran deserves.
Went to see My dad and Mom during lunch break ànd didn't know they were having a huge ceremony on Sunday it's a beautiful place where they are resting. The grounds are always well maintained ! Know that I know the day before Memorial Day they have a ceremony I will be looking into it so I can attend next year
They rushed us through the service. Kept saying they had another one coming up. They would not let us see my Dad being put in the ground. As of right now I am 100% convinced they did something else with my fathers body besides putting him in the ground. I have zero closure and massive amounts of anxiety with a strong belief that my fathers body is being used for government funded science experiments.
