The museum is very informative and interesting. The staff is very knowledgeable, and makes the history come to life. My 8 year old daughter loves the museum, which has instilled in her a love of learning more history.
There is much more to this, than the statue of Washington, despite it being a neat little nugget of history of our great general before he became president. The Eagle Hotel next door, has a wonderful restaurant inside, serving homemade food, as well as having a nice museum contained within. Those who like to fill in the blanks to Washington's career, should stop by and visit.
Wonderful way to spend an hour with family for an educational experience. The manager is so kind and helpful! The blacksmith is a wealth of knowledge as well and interesting to watch. This museum is a great stop to view many arrowheads and relics of the Native American and French presence here. Newly updated and awesome! Thanks for a fun visit! This place is free but donations are much appreciated.
A great walk through early American history & super friendly & knowledgeable volunteers. Definitely worth checking out, then dinner at the hotel. A perfect day. Also visit the Judson house for more great history.
It's an excellent place to go you'll learn a lot about the history of Fort LaBeouf and Waterford area. We Halo have a lot of Greek history here this is in fact where George Washington came as a representative from Britain and we have a statue rate by Sugar and Spice which commemorates his visit and he is wearing a British uniform as he was serving in the British army. He came to tell the French that this was English territory and they had to leave basically but the history behind it is really awesome very Historical Area and definitely worth coming to see visit and just take part in this community even though it's small people here really love where we live and our school system is the best in Erie County.
Absolutely fascinating museum, covering an often overlooked, critical period in American history, the French and Indian wars. Jim Edward's, one of the curators, is a wealth of information, a former period re-enactor, a Vietnam veteran, and extremely dedicated to preserving the history of the area. Firearms enthusiasts will enjoy the collection of muskets, pistols, horns, and supplies of the era. Uniforms, outfits, and day to day items round out a glimpse into a society with tremendous political, military, and daily survival challenges. 5 stars.
It is a very nice little museum with friendly volunteers! My mom and I enjoyed walking around and picking their brains. The black Smith demos are pretty cool too!
Such a travel back in time, I was surprised to learn that the Native Americans were abundant in number in this area. I had the nicest lady that gave me a very informative tour of your facility. Thanks for all the time and effort your club puts into making and sharing and keeping our history alive. So proud to be a Waterford resident.
We had a wonderful time checking out all of the exhibits! Volunteers were very friendly and knowledgable.
