"Arts and cultural centers help provide the spark making communities seem more interesting places to live and work. Founded in 1979 as a non-profit organization, Fort Madison Area Arts Association FMAAA and the Art Center they provide plays a special role in our community by offering art classes for youth and adults, along with a gallery space and community-wide cultural programming that cultivate inspiration, enhance community pride, and strengthen arts appreciation and participation. The FMAAA puts on the annual Art on the Avenue formerly Art in Central Park, Expressions Art Auction, and the Southeastern Iowa Spoonfest for handcarvers. They also host FINALE, a monthly performance night, Lunch ala Art, & Brews n Brushes."
