I would have given this location a higher rating. The park itself is very nice. Standard FHU and nice spacing. Greenery a bit over grown but it's manageable. However the ODR customer service and weekly moving to a different spot really dampened the experience. For some reason, almost half of the RV campers are required to move weekly. Some people who will stay longer periods of time had to move 4 times. When asked the reason why, all said they didn't know the reason, despite their spot being open for several days afterwards. Most people thought it was a power trip issue bc ODR WOULD NOT provide a reason either. So think twice before committing.
We stayed at site 29, which is the best site in the entire campground because it is all secluded with zero neighbors to the entrance side. Huge yard all by ourselves. Check-in is very informative, and they check pet papers. Cell service is 5G strength. Base itself has nice playgrounds, bowling alley and of course good sized px and comm. 55 a night is what I think we paid. Maybe less because it's a back in site. Google maps may take you to wrong gate, but definitely use the directions on famcamp website mapes rd gate on east side. Overall, really nice RV park if you get a chance to stay. Playground: Great playground for kids just up the street. Walking distance less than a mile. Restrooms: Restroom and shower house well kept and some had side rooms to lounge wherr laundry can be done. Dog-friendliness: Typical campground with some campers who actually pick dog waste up and others who cover it up to not pick it up. But in general, really like the fact that they check papers.
Located on Fort Meade, this RV park is a really nice place to set up to see northern Maryland for those with access and privileges to use the FAMCAMP. We were able to easily access Baltimore Fort McHenry, Annapolis, and Lancaster County from here. Also, it is close enough to Washington DC to enjoy time there, but more out of the way than the FAMCAMP at Andrews if that is the place you want to see. Paved spots, shady, plenty of reasonably prices machines in the laundry room. There is WIFI in the bathhouse lounge, but not throughout the campground. I've stayed at a lot of FAMCAMPs and this is one of my favorites.
This was s great place to stop on our trip to NC. The park is nice and felt safe. I loved having my son in law take me to the commissary and PX.
Great staff, great price, 50-foot full hook-up spots, and quiet park. We camp here 2-3 times a year. Cable never works, but we just start a campfire and enjoy the atmosphere.
It’s OKAY! Over priced. Cleaning crew doesn’t have a schedule to clean the showers so they kept trying to open the door and kept knocking until I got out, never on schedule. “Game Room” is only a couch. 1 exercise bike in the hallway. Doesn’t offer much. Also one parking spot for your car on your site, well I guess depends who you are! We got yelled at for parking on some grass but our neighbors have 3 vehicles and parked on the grass & it’s ok for them.
Quiet Shaded Park, Never seem to cut the grass. No after hours staff. Grass growing in the patio areas. No place to boat or kyack. Not much for children to do at the campground. It's ok.
Reserved the primitive cabin. It was small but cute; and all the facilities were clean and well taken cared of.
Sites were spacious and level. Bath house was really nice, single shower rooms with toilet and sink similar to hotel bathroom. Grass did need cutting pretty bad, must be normal as several sites used weed trimmers to clean up the area around their fire pits. You get a nine page rule book about how to keep your site but they don't bother cutting the grass... other than that it is a nice spot to camp if you're in the area.
The RV area is laid out around your standard kind of loop. It appears that just about all the spaces are pretty darn level. There's plenty of room at each spot, and it's very well shaded. No worries about being in what resembles an open parking lot at this RV Park. The reservations area has very experienced and very helpful people working at it who work to keep their patients and explain everything in a nice manner. They also will give out brochures etc of the post so that you can find your way around. As for the park itself, it is well shaded and reasonably spacious. We were able to get a space about a 60 second walk away from the hard bathrooms and laundry area. Just about every space that I saw seem to be very level which is very pleasing to see. I'd consider this a great place to stay whether you have only a few days need, or in our case - more than a few days. Two thumbs up.
