I really liked and enjoyed this zoo better than the Indy zoo, albeit I give the Indy zoo 5 stars as well. I just enjoyed this zoo and experience better. My reef encounter tour wasn't as good as expected, seemed a bit short and a boring but I was just hoping for something better like feeding the sharks and lion fish however the lady that gave me the tour was great and knew her stuff! All of the staff here were amazing, friendly, helpful, very upbeat, positive, and seemed to go above and beyond!!
We went as a school event. It was a very chilly day so we didn't get to see a few animals because they were inside. And there was no bears? Anyways the paths were nice the enclosure were nice. You can touch the stingrays!! The seals were very active we were there at feeding time. The tiger was very active. I would def go again.Visited onWeekdayWait time10–30 minReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$16–20
We had the best time! Easy & free parking. Lots of animals where you can get up close! Lush gardens of beautiful flowers and greenery everywhere. Very easy to navigate with strollers, wagons or wheelchairs. Lots of photo opportunities throughout the zoo. It seemed as if there was always a bathroom nearby which helps tremendously with small children. Plan your trip accordingly, they have different animal feedings throughout the zoo. We went when It was overcast so the giraffes weren’t as active and if you don’t get there early they may have eaten a lot for the day. The stingrays only feed at 11 & 2 I believe. The petting zoo is always fun we did that last. We started in Africa and moved counterclockwise. Cafés throughout the park and lots of benches to stop and take a rest. They even had more private places for nursing mothers. We can’t wait to come back!
Beautiful zoo!! Very clean, plenty of areas for shade. We rode on the sky lift, there was also a waterlog ride, a train and a carousel. I would definitely return. My kids ages 14 & 7 really enjoyed themselves.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
A little on the pricey side being $16 per adult ticket as well as expensive food. Other than that the experience is great, the exhibits are very nice. There is a lot of running water for many of the animals which is necessary. It took about 2 hours for 2 adults to go through. The boat ride is pretty neat. There has been a lot of construction the last few years, lots of changes being made, but I always go back every summer.
This is one of the best small to mid-size zoos that I've ever visited; and I've been to many of them. With the name, I expected a small petting zoo and figured just over an hour. Well... I spent two hours and had to rush at the end. They have 4 distinct sections. 1. The central area when you come in that has sea lions, penguins, and a farm where you can pet and feed goats. 2. An African section that feels remote enough that you don't feel you're in Indiana that has a small play area and giraffe feeding. 3. An Indonesian section with a carousel. 4. An Australian section where you can touch stingrays. Much of it is shaded by trees; and gives a feeling of immersion. With small children, could spend 3 hours here!
We LOVE our visits to the zoo! There's something for everyone. My daughter was disappointed that she no longer gets to visit her favorite pony, Candy. I hope the zoo considers bringing the pony ride back. Also, would LOVE to see more on the sky safari. Otherwise, our visit was fantastic! She LOVED that there's a mural with the butterfly photo-op now! I loved that the jeeps I rode in have at least returned to Nyumba Village.
Great place for the kids. I would highly recommend to buy a season pass, just 2-3 visits pay for the pass itself. For younger ones I would bring or rent a stroller. I would also bring your own drinks as it could get expensive with multiple kids. But all in all a great family place!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
I grew up in Ft Wayne and went to this zoo as a kid. I don't really remember it well, but we were in town and had a chance to visit with our oldest daughter and her family. The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, inside and out, is fabulous!!! We went on Sunday, and the weather forecast called for rain, which may have contributed to a lower than normal turnout. As a result, it felt like we had the whole zoo to ourselves. The temperature was in the mid 70's, and a short drizzly rain made the grounds feel even more like we were in the wild. The sun eventually came out and we had a wonderful day with our family. The grounds are beautiful! One of the best landscaped zoo's I've seen, and the Jungle Dome was incredible. The restrooms were clean and there were quiet areas for parents needing to attend to their kids privately. The animals were amazing. To top it all off was the carousel, train, and log rides. Tokens for the rides were $1 each. Most rides only required 3 tokens per person. Token machines accepted cash and credit cards. The food was good and reasonably priced. Our grandkids loved the icees and the ice cream! I wish there was capacity to share more of my photos. Visiting this zoo should definitely be on your schedule, even if you need to drive about 3 hours like we did.
One of the best zoos in the country in my opinion. All the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. There are many exhibits to visit and you can tell all the animals are very well cared for. This is definitely worth a stop if you ever have the opportunity.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$16–20
