The Fortis Institute Erie Dental Hygiene Clinic offers comprehensive dental hygiene services by student dental hygienists.
Fortis Institute Erie dental hygiene clinic provides comprehensive dental hygiene care in our modern facility. All treatment is provided by students and is supervised by licensed dentists and dental hygienists with advanced degrees and years of clinical experience.
The services provided at the clinic include: Teeth cleaning (prophylaxis), deep scaling (non-surgical periodontal therapy), x-rays, sealants, fluoride treatments, oral cancer screenings, head and neck examinations, nutritional counseling, cleaning of removable appliances and dentures, dental examinations, and pain management in the form of local and topical anesthesia (when indicated).
Since we are a dental hygiene student clinic, our services are limited to those that would be provided by a dental hygienist. We do not do restorative work (such as fillings and crowns), extractions or dentures. All patients will receive an examination by a licensed dentist and will be given a referral form, which lists dental needs and concerns, upon appointment completion. We can provide information for clinics in the area that may be able to accommodate additional dental needs at reduced fees, if necessary.
The fees for services are as follows:
Adult cleaning …….…...........…...…....10.00
Child cleaning (age 13 and under) .….8.00
Whitening kit ……..………………..…100.00
X-rays, sealants, fluoride treatments, and all other diagnostic and preventive services are included at no charge with cleaning fees on an as-needed basis.
There is NO CHARGE for adult and child cleaning services for the following:
Fortis Institute students and their immediate families
Veterans
Fee Waivers: Optimal oral health is our first priority. As dental professionals, we are committed to increasing access to dental care. As such, the clinic has a “no questions asked” policy on fee waivers for those who cannot afford the costs of preventive services. We will never turn away anyone due to inability to pay.
(Please note: Whitening services are not eligible for fee waivers.)
Hours and clinic days vary by term. Appointments are typically scheduled for either 8:00 am or 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Please call the clinic to schedule an appointment.
Clinic Policies:
The students at Fortis Institute Erie Dental Hygiene Clinic receive extensive training before they are permitted to treat patients. Since our students are in a learning environment, patient care is done in a way that facilitates teaching. Students receive checks periodically throughout the appointment to ensure accuracy and safety; therefore, all treatment received in our facility will be thorough. Due to this teaching environment, appointments are longer than would be encountered in private dental practice. Please expect your appointment to last approximately three hours. In some cases, patients may need to return for additional appointments before all necessary treatment is complete. There will be no charge for these additional appointments.
