Ate lunch there yesterday. It was fresh, and tasty enough. $4 and $4.50 lunch specials. Many of these small Chinese restaurants have their own unique style or flavor that sets it apart from the others and this place has that as well. The $6.00 minimum on a credit card is unreasonable to say the least though, which is why I'm only giving 3 stars.
One catch to ordering here first, during this pandemic. DO NOT order through DoorDash. Something is wrong with ordering at Four Seasons through DoorDash. We had a horrible experience two nights ago when we tried to order through DoorDash and it said order received, charged my card, and then cancelled my order 1 minute before delivery countdown timer said it would be at my door. The order I'm reviewing here was pick up the next night. I called them and placed the order and while I was there to pick up, a DoorDash driver came in to pick up an order. The lady said, "What order?" DoorDash is not submitting the orders through to the restaurant. So there you go, pick up only! So we're stuck at the house trying to be safe during this pandemic and craving chinese. My usual is temporarily closed, along with most other chinese food restaurants in the area. The only options seem to be Panda Express thumbs down, PF Changs meh, and Four Seasons. I've never tried Four Seasons; so we ventured with that. I was hungry while ordering and wound up ordering a lot and I'm pretty glad I did. It's good! The teriyaki chicken appetizer was a huge surprise. It's a really large amount of chicken on a stick for $1.20 each. I was expecting a small chicken tender. Nope. Almost half a rack of ribs sized piece of chicken. Hell of a deal! I ordered two orders of steamed rice. You can choose small or large. I was thinking average fold-up chinese food carton, so I ordered large. Ha! Each was an entire take-away styrofoam dish. And full. 75¢ each. The portions for the rest of the items ordered were as expected. Fried dumplings, shrimp cocktail rolls, Pork Yak, house special fried rice, general tan chicken and szechuan beef. The szechuan beef is note worthy. Spicy, crisp veggies, not too saucy, and plenty of beef. I also really liked the general tan chicken. They don't offer General Tso; it's General Tan here. And it's better! Less fried, less sugary chicken. It has a lighter flavor. Two thumbs up. So I ordered a feast. The portions were huge. And the food was better than where I usually order chinese food from. These guys just earned another customer.
New ownership, no more pork, prices have gone up astronomically. Food is still good, just not the same. I didnt even get any egg in my fried rice. Kind of a let down, especially for the price I paid for the food my total was almost twice what it used to be under the old ownership!
Good prices and generous portions on the lunch specials. Sometimes the meat is not fresh...so check your " to—go" orders. Now recently, I've noticed a vast change in the freshness of the food and that the staff seems more pleasant and communicable towards me. They do have good prices and good portions on their lunch specials and the same can be said about their side orders throughout the business day.
Lady in the front was very rude as soon as you walk in didn’t even say hello back to me. When I asked about the food items it was my first time there and I was asking about the choices on their lunch specials she caught an attitude and kept talking fast like she was trying to get me to hurry which was weird because I was the only person in there at the time. The food was very hot I did appreciate that but it wasn’t even all that good. The veggies had a fishy taste and the chicken was Chewey and disgusting I definitely wouldn’t go back.
I haven't even eaten the food yet but perhaps I will review again after but most Chinese is pretty the same. I'm not the kind of person who expects outstanding customer service everywhere I go but to be treated like a human being would be nice. The girl at the counter said three things to me: what's your number? The total cost and an "mhmm" when I said thank you while never even looking up from her phone. Not very good customer service especially if it is a family owned business. I've been treated better by fast food employees who don't have any reason to be appreciative for my business.
Always drove by this place on my way to work so one day last week i tried it and man i was really surprised how good the food was. The chicken wings and fried rice is bomb and there fried dumplings is good too. Customer service was great i didnt have any issues. I don't eat Chinese food alot but this is my new spot for sure.
No greeting when you walk in. Ylung lady who took order was rude and no type positive energy. Food was ok but my fried chicken was nasty and had no taste to it. It was a great food when i was growing up but its not so much satisfying now.
This Chinese restaurant has been around for 20 years. I remember eating their superb fried rice back when I was a teenager, and then recently tried it again at middle age. Its still the same great stuff! Plus they give a lot of food for a cheap price. Also in the last decade or so, many Chinese restaurants have cut corners with their fried rice and other menus. Not so with 4 Seasons. You can tell they actual take time to fry the rice in a wok to the correct caramalization color. Unlike so many other Chinese chains, they simply buy the already yellow rice and just fry it for a few minutes to have the same fake effect. Also they offer a beef fried rice unlike all the other Chinese chains who dont. with REAL fried pieces of steak in it Also forgot to mention the most important thing of all. There menu is half the price of most all other Chinese chains out there I kid you not! Compare yourself with their menu prices A large fried rice at any other chain would cost $7.75 At 4 Seasons, its $5.75 Its a great deal. All in all, its one of the last best Chinese Restaurants that still cook stuff like they did back in the 90s in Virginia Beach.
Best Chinese food for the price in the 7 cities. I have been going there for over 20 years and after a 5 year absence they still remembered my "special order"! Great family owned restaurant! Go every time I am back home. Try the pork chops with rice and gravy! Simple but great!
