We The Way Church of Joliet celebrated our Annual Back to School Picnic at the park's pavilion on Sunday, August 13, 2023. The park is very large and well maintained. There are walking trails throughout the park and sidewalks from the parking lot to the Pavillion structure and a nearby playground and basketball court. There is a large pond near the Pavillion where we were stationed. The bathroom facilities are fenced off to provide privacy and host several Porta-potties, which were very clean and were situated right next to the parking lot, so you can take care of business before you play. It was a glorious, warm day with many of our church members in attendance at the event. We had prayer and church in the park. Our pastor prayed and laid hands on each student prior to handing out the book bags with back-to school supplies. Lunch was provided. Game and activities followed. Restrooms: Fenced off to provide privacy from the parking lot and passersby. 2 Porta-potties, one which is handicap accessible. Picnic area: The large picnic area is covered by a very large Pavillion structure. The picnic area is handicapped accessible with a graded ramp towards the rear of the Pavillion. Other entries to the concreted area are one step-up. There are 5 long tables with attached benches to provide seating for picnics.
Great playground! A fun car for the kids to play in, multiple levels of slides, swings, monkey bars, etc. Also had shaded picnic tables. My 2yr old had fun playing here. Playground: Swings, slides, stairs and ladders.
Nice park for softball games. They have a huge hill that is great for running up and down for exercise and sledding down in winter. Nice walking path, too.
Very nice park for lots of activities. Clean for the most part. Found a couple pieces of trash but i put them in the trash to help out. Playground, tennis court, basketball court, pick nick area, and lots more. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to spend time with kids or just looking to have fun.
Very nice place that holds a festival every year that my family and friends attend
Nice single hill to bring your kids to do some sledding. It was getting too crowded so we took off well because Covid, you know. Lot's of people with no mask unfortunately.
Pickle ball, basketball, soccer, tennis, playground and pond. Check. It is pretty wide open with little shade tho.
This is a wonderful community park. There is a sledding hill, tennis courts, basketball hoops as well as a beautiful children's play area. The park holds several events throughout the year. There is a small lake for fishing. There are paved walking trails around the park. During the summer months, there are many baseball and soccer teams playing. Two beautiful pavilions can be rented for private parties. Great park to take your kids and your family dog for a day in the sun.
This park is such a great little gem in our area. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. There is a wonderful sledding hill that is not too tall so little ones can climb it fairly well. They just resurfaced the tennis courts. They look fantastic. My only concern is the constant amount of plastic bottles and debris around the basketball court. The recycling can and garbage can are right next to the court. However, the amount of garbage left on the court and around the park is disturbing. Wish people would clean up after themselves as this park is perfect minus the debris. Beautiful little fishing lake and two covered pavilion spaces complete with tables. They can be rented for parties. Great little play area for the young kids. The park is well used by locals and well cared for by the park district crew!
A nice quiet park in Shorewood. The hill is the star here especially in the winter, but the playground has enough going on to keep my kid entertained. The views are pretty but one side is a corn field and you have to wonder how long that will last before you are staring at another big box McMansion housing development. There are baseball fields, portable toilets and static ones as well, but are usually only opened for events, like baseball. There is a basketball court and some tennis courts as well as a small path that wraps around the pond. It's a great little spot all in all!
