At about 12:15am on Monday 9/5, I called the Franklin Park Police Dept to assist with a guy who didn't want to pay $70 for a service I rendered. They showed up but said its a civil issue and gave the alleged guy who just defrauded me "Police Protection" to walk away from the scene. I totally understand its a civil issue for the courts but the least police officers on the scene could have done is advise the guy to pay for service rendered to him since the initial payment was declined and the money never left the payer's account as evidenced by the statements. I wasn't expecting them to arrest or detain him since it was a civil issue but the fact is, people like me trying to make a honest living is what makes the job of police officers easier in the community and the least they could have done when on the scene is advise the offender to pay for the service I rendered. But instead, they sided with him and gave him police protection to walk away. Terribly disappointed and a complete waste of my time. The officers I interacted with lack maturity, experience and could use more training.
This police station should have a 5 star rating! They keep our village streets safe 24/7. Personally I've had nothing, but professional experiences with Franklin park police. yes I've gotten couple parking tickets but who hasn't. I've mailed it due to my busy schedule and everything was fine. I have a retired maybe bored or crazy neighbor across from my house that calls police on every one in my street for the slightest wrongdoing and the police have been nothing but polite and professional on two occasions they were dispatched to my and this neighbors house. If you're nice to them they will be nice to you. That's how life works!
My pregnant wife got rear ended on Franklin ave and Mannheim. The police officer that showed up and wrote an inaccurate report and did not even ticket the other driver. We had to pay a fee to get a copy of the report online just to find so many errors. We called, went in person to the station and emailed the officer multiple times with no response. The report needed to be fixed since it pretty much stated that car A hit car A. Which obviously makes no sense. In all franklin park police need to be sent back to school to learn basic communication skills. I lived and grew up in Franklin park my whole life but I'm sure glad I got out of there.
Trust me the 1 star reviews are more accurate of what happens in this village. I would like to post my bad experience here but It is kind of lengthy. WE DEFINITELY NEED TO LOOK INTO CHANGING ADMINISTRATION IN THE VILLAGE THIS UPCOMING ELECTION AND A CHANGE IN THE POLICE DEPT FOR SURE.
Called them last night for a violent incident and they were more concerned with id everyone looking for warrants. Stormed through my house and treated me w disrespect like I’m not an honest taxpayer. They left without a solution to the reason I called them in the first place. Def pushes me to hurry and sell my home and move to another city. I do not trust them. They are always pulling people over in front of my house. I feel like they are mostly young and inexperienced. I’m sorry but you do not pay for my house. Please don’t walk in it like you do. Never will call them again
The police in Franklin Park have nothing better to do than pass out parking tickets to people that are just picking up their kids at school. They literally circle around the school at time of dismissal to see how many parking tickets they can hand out to good people just picking up their children. When there is actually a disturbance and you call them they take forever to arrive at the scene.
A year or so again my mother was involved in a head on collision Luckily no one was hurt by Mannheim and Grand. Parties moved into the Wendy's parking area. I rushed from work to the scene and exited my vehicle and walked up to the officer I do not recall the names of the PO's involved, but it still doesn't change the fact that it was FPPD and I asked the officer if I could approach his cruiser and he said yes. I asked him if I could talk to my mother to see if she was ok, he said no because he was not done with his report. Officer did not ask my mother if she was ok nor if she was not ok, need medical assistance. He then threaten me with obstruction if I continued to ask question. Once I was sure my mother was ok, I left to the Franklin Park PD to file a complaint on the officer. Once I arrived it took 15min for anyone to arrive to the door and once a superior did come out; he stood by the door blocking the only way in. Superior said he was the one to take the complaint and that was all. At the time I was not aware of the beautiful thing that is The Constitution, and the freedoms that come with it. I could have stood my ground and kept FPPD up to their expectations which are to protect and serve.
Worst service ever especially from "Margie" its like they dont even want to help you out and she just sounded annoyed over the phone kept on talking over me. They need to get better staff that have better customer service skills and want to actually help people out. BIGGEST JOKE OF FRANKLIN PARK
Got two parking tickets last month, went in and paid both. Then i get a letter in the mail a few weeks later for a court summons on one of the tickets i just paid! The fee went from 50 to 250! So i went to the FPPD and presented my receipt which had both ticket numbers on there and showed that i paid and the girl said she'd give me a call back. One week later still no call, so i followed up today and the same girl doesn't know anything, system still shows i haven't paid the ticket and i have to speak to someone else because she no longer has the paperwork. This village is just after your money. I refuse to have to pay 5x the amount of something i just paid! Ridiculous!!
Literally the biggest joke of a department. Also getting a dash cam after being pulled over yesterday for being a given an almost $200 ticket for "not stopping at a stop sign" when I have literally never had an a driving errors in my life. Literally looked the cop in the eye while I stopped, but they're just after your money.
