Went on a Monday and the zoo was pretty empty. There are some great views of the animals with spacious enclosures for a lot of the exhibits. The down side is that there are not that many animals total in the zoo compared to others across the country. There are a decent number of activities for kids and good angles for photos of the main exhibits. The open air bird exhibits were different from other zoos and a pretty cool feature. We went early enough that we didn't try any food options but they had a few on property. Price was cheap compared to other zoos so the smaller size and exhibits shows up in the price so you get good value.
Went on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn’t busy! Love that the animals can get really close! My only complaint is there was construction happening at the same time To prepare for the lantern festival and so a few exhibits were closed. The kids had a great time! If you’re going with more than 1 child, I recommend renting a double stroller for only $7! Also used a voucher I got from my local library for discounted entrance fees.
We were here only once before for the lights show at night so didn't get the chance to see the animals till today. The zoo is not big but has a good collection of animals from around the world. Many of them are not camera shy, like the thinking gorilla, the playful lions, and the none stop walking giraffes. I was able to capture lots of good shots with my phone while kids enjoyed watching the animals. We got the library pass discount from local library, so $9 per adult and $6 per kid.
It's best to go early in the morning or late in the day. Midday the animals are sleeping because they've all just eaten. So we saw a low of the animals laying down. Quite a number of exhibits were closed. But the bird were all there! The kiwi exhibit is awesome but it's a quiet area so it's recommended that boisterous children and adults are to avoid going. Also if you have bad vision the kiwi exhibit is a nocturnal one so it's flooded with a red-light. The rest of the tropical birds in the bird enclosure are awesome and free flying. The giraffes were awesome they have a baby giraffe currently it's adorable!
Nice little zoo in the heart of Boston. As you can see i liked the giraffes! The Nature's Neighborhoods area is a fun place for kids to learn about various habitats. They can climb up into a big n'est. See farm animals at the farm. I was disappointed because the butterfly exhibit was closed for some reason. And the gorillas have a new habitat but they were not out because they are getting used to their new home. Nice place for a stroll on a weekday afternoon. I didn't put a price because my family has a membership, which i recommend if you plan to go more than once a year. The membership is also good for the Stone Zoo.
The Light show of Boston Franklin Park Zoo was so amazing and beautiful to see. Went with my daughters ages 7 & 9. They LOVE it’s and had a lot of fun. This year they have a great display. They had food, drinks, booths to purchases items, games for the kids to play with and play on. I want to go again with myself just to enjoy the lights myself! Try to go on the weekdays as in the weekend is packed. Available until October 23rd 6pm to 10:30pm Free parking around the Zoo, valet parking for $20
The Light show of Boston Franklin Park Zoo was so amazing and beautiful to see. Since it started I always wanted to take my chances to go with my children and finally I got the opportunity to go.....I was so amazed at how each exhibit shadowed a different light portrait...They had food, drinks, booths to purchases items , games for the kids to play and they also had a few things that the kids can play on....If I had to recommend anyone I would say Make sure you get out and see the light exhibit before September 25th it is so worth the time and energy you spend there....I want to go again with myself just to enjoy the lights myself!!!! Great Job Franklin Park Zoo for hosted one of the Best light shows in New England!!!!!!

Vibrant zoo experience in the outskirts of Boston. The butterfly exhibit was not great as the cover on the building was missing. The food and dining tables were easily found. Unfortunately there was something going on there and we couldn't buy food. At least the picnic tables were working. It must have been a holiday as many of the animals were gone that day. Large trees lined the paths of the well manicured walkways. Don't worry about overcrowding here. The highlight was the baby gorilla.
We visit both zoos frequently, so getting an annual family membership saves us a lot of money. The zoo wasn't crowded at all, and we almost never had to wait or stand in a line to see any animals. The Gorilla's were in their outdoor enclosure, and you literally got to sit right next to them with just safety glass in-between. The newest baby is ADORABLE!
