FRC 1828, the BoxerBots, is a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team located in Vail, Arizona dedicated to educating young thinkers, inventors, and leaders in STEM.
Founded in 2005 as the Science, Engineering, and Robotics Club at Vail High School, the team was headed by VHS science teacher Mr. Don Adams with a small group of mostly high school freshmen. Since 2006, the club officially registered for the FIRST Robotics Competition and transformed into FRC 1828, the BoxerBots. As of 2014, the team has relocated to the K-12 Vail Academy and High School in Vail, Arizona and continued efforts to educate young thinkers, inventors, and leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The team has won numerous awards since 2006, including the FIRST Entrepreneurship Award (2013), FIRST Innovation in Control Award (2014), and Team Spirit Award (2014, 2015, 2016). In 2012, the BoxerBots traveled to the FIRST World Championships in St. Louis, MO and competed in the Curie Division. Since then, the team is anxiously awaiting to qualify for their home FIRST World Championships in Houston, TX.
