Dedicated to improving Frear Park in terms of beauty, accessibility, and historic integrity.
In the spring of 2002 the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Troy came to residents of the Frear Park neighborhoods asking us to consider forming a group to work with the city to improve Frear Park. An interim board of directors was established to explore what the organization’s potential role may be and how it might go about fulfilling it. The board began meeting regularly, established a mission statement to define core values, and Frear Park Conservancy was born. In January of 2003 it was incorporated as a nonprofit organization.
The Frear Park Conservancy is dedicated to improving Frear Park and Preserving its historic integrity. Through collaborative efforts with park users, the surrounding community and the City of Troy, the Conservancy strives to revive and maintain the park's history, beauty, and recreational value. We advocate community-wide utilization of, and appreciation for, the park's diverse resources, and accessibility for all.
