Freeport Memorials (Freeport Cruise Lines) provides scattering of cremated human and pet remains off the coast of Long Island, New York for families.
Our company has served Long Island and the five boroughs for decades. Families from Nassau County, Suffolk County, and New York City have trusted Capt. Cooke to help them through one of life’s most difficult transitions.
About the Captain:
Dr. Cooke is on board all memorial cruises. A Merchant Marine Officer and Ordained Minister, is no stranger to the loss of a loved one. He was the sole caregiver for his Godmother, Ms. Douglas. After 79 years of vibrant life, her health began to fail. In 2011, Dr. Cooke, D.D cared for his Ms. Douglas through hospice at her house. One of the hardest conversations he has ever had with an individual blossomed into a calling. He spoke to Ms. Douglas about her final wishes. She did not want to be buried in a grave yard. Dr. Cooke, D.D, an avid fisherman, suggested a burial at sea, scattering of ashes in the Atlantic Ocean so that every time he went out to sea, he would be visiting her. At the beginning of May 2011, Ms. Douglas passed away. Her ashes, housed in a biodegradable urn were placed in the ocean. From that point, families around the world have entrusted Dr. Cooke, D.D with these precious moments. He has worked with families to provide unique burials at sea aboard the Miss Freeport V and Freeport Princess.
