A strong public health system is an integral part of sustaining and improving community health.

Since its inception in 1944, Fremont County Department of Public Health & Environment (FCDPHE) has been a valuable local resource by providing services aimed at promoting, achieving and maintaining a healthy standard of living to all Fremont County (Colorado) residents.

Our staff wants to empower the people of Fremont County to make informed decisions and adopt behaviors that protect and enhance the health of individuals, families, communities, and the environment.

We deliver essential public health services to the public in order to create a safer and healthier place by working with community partners to promote health, prevent disease, reduce environmental hazards and ensure access to health care for all Fremont County citizens.

The Fremont County Department of Public Health & Environment (FCDPHE) offers a wide range of health service to the community. Services may vary on offered times, fees, and locations. For the most up to date information, or further information on any service, please call.

Tuberculin (TB) Skin Tests: Tuberculin skin tests are offered to the community on a walk in basis on Monday mornings from 9am – 12pm. These tests are a two-step procedure, including the administration of the TB and the reading of the results. Results must be read after 48 hours from administration.

Immunizations: Immunizations are offered to all individuals from 2 months and older. These immunizations are administered by appointment. Clinics are held Tuesdays from 8:00am-5:00pm and Thursdays from 1:00pm-5:00pm. Colorado Immunization Information Systems are used to track and provide up to date recommendations direct from the Center for Disease Control. Immunization records may be obtained at any time at no charge, and will be provided following appointments. To schedule an appointment please call. (Appointment duration may vary, and are subject to adjustment on the Public Health official’s judgement.)

Influenza (Flu)
Zoster (Shingles)

Administration of recommended vaccinations vary on a number of factors. Our nursing staff assesses all situations to provide the most effective way to immunize patients, and some vaccinations may not be available to all individuals due to health risks. For further information please contact our nurses for a consultation. Vaccine stock may vary. To make sure vaccinations are available, please call.

Blood Lead Screenings: Blood Lead Tests are available on a walk-in basis. Tests are subject to a fee for administration of the tests. Testing kits are completed by our nursing staff then sent to a third party lab for screening. Turnaround on Blood Screenings may vary.

CPR/First Aid Certification: Classes are offered for First Aid and CPR Certification (both in adult, child and infant). These classes are offered once a month. Class scheduling may vary, and limited numbers are allowed in each class. Call us for class reservations and pricing. Separate appointments may be made at the instructor’s discretion for companies and groups that require their own time.

Prenatal Plus Program: This program provides prenatal education in group, as well as for individuals. This program is available under Medicaid, CHP+ and some insurance plans.

Presumptive Eligibility: Our agency is the Presumptive Eligibility site for Fremont and Custer County for the Medicaid Baby Care Program. Eligibility is determined by appointment. A Medicaid card is issued immediately, if found eligible.

HIV & Hep C Testing: Free HIV and Hepatitis C testing are available 2nd and 4th Thursdays. Testing is confidential. To make an appointment or for further information, please call the designated testing line at (719) 276-2768.
