Your hand drumming headquarters. Classes, Hand Drums, Repairs, & Instructional Materials
Bill Matthews opened his doors at Fremont Drum in 1992 and has been a leader in the Seattle hand drumming community ever since. He has continued teaching five classes a week for the last 20 years, helping to create one of the largest student bases in the country. He regularly takes students to West Africa, and teaches workshops in Hawaii, Baja, and The San Juan Islands. Bill has been involved with the World Rhythm Festival every year since its inception in 1992, and co-created the highly attended community event "Let's Drum & Dance." He is the author of the beloved "Conga Joy Series," a line of instructional material devoted to opening up African & Afro-Caribbean rhythms to hand drumming students. Bill is also a successful painter, showing his work across the Northwest. His imagery can be found throughout his books.
