Make Aurora Highlands parks in Arlington, VA balanced for all ages and uses! (Pentagon City)
Aurora Highlands needs to keep its parks balanced for all ages by maintaining and creating more unprogrammed spaces that all can use including much need open green space and tree-filled parkland.
Users of all ages and uses should have access to enjoy the parks in our neighborhood.
GOALS:
Balance neighborhood and countywide uses.
o Age-diverse populations need more than just courts, athletic fields & playgrounds in our neighborhood parks.
Add more tree-filled parkland in Aurora Highlands.
o Bring back natural parkland with the addition of more trees, increasing benefits to our health and environment.
Revert some specific programmed & fenced off areas to unprogrammed green space.
o These areas could be used by all ages & uses in our community: play, exercise, walk, relax, socialize, events...
Construct only amenities and spaces that are true neighborhood deficiencies and needs.
o Create a neighborhood dog park, a priority of both AHCA and ARCA Neighborhood Conservation Plans.
