Friends of Camp Teetonkah seeks to support the camp as a youth camp. Programs will include but not be limited to scouting.
Our Vision:
To provide a natural setting where youth can transition into responsible adults through outdoor experiences and stewardship. To foster pride through service opportunities, instill a love of nature and develop outdoor skills. To incorporate reverence by actively living their faith and develop a focus on conservation and citizenship.
Our Mission:
To fulfill our mission, we must protect the natural beauty of the camp. A beautiful setting inspires people to go beyond themselves and consider the larger world we live in. Exposure to such a setting at a young age instills a love for nature that can later develop into a strong conservationist principal.
We must offer well maintained facilities and convey the hard work that goes into that maintenance to our guests. Organizing, encouraging and rewarding service projects at the camp will help meet this goal. Service projects that leave a lasting testament to the work will be especially valuable to our young guests because of the great pride it instills. Team oriented projects help keep the camp beautiful and inspires many important values.
To develop outdoor skills, we will organize and encourage challenges, competitions and ordeals. Most FOCT members are Scouters so we have a strong leadership base to teach these skills. Many youth that are challenged beyond their perceived limits find a strength within they didn’t realize they had. While being sensitive to actual limitations, we want Teetonkah to be a place where barriers are broken.
Faith is an important part of Scouting. Learning from that, all denominations and traditions will be welcome as long as they are respectful of the land and others.
To permanently protect Camp Teetonkah, for the benefit of youth.
