The mission of The FSSSHP shall be to support Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park and the historic John/Landon Carter Mansion and associated properties.
The Friends Group holds quarterly Friends Meetings at the Park's Guest Center to encourage, educate, fellowship with other lovers of history and the park.
The Next meeting will be the third Thursday of August. All are welcome to come hear about what is happening at the Park and share refreshments with friends.
The mission of The Friends of Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area shall be to support Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area and the John/Landon Historic Carter Mansion by educating the public about the park’s unique qualities through presentation and support of projects related to the mission and the betterment of the park.
This shall be accomplished by but not limited to:
· Providing educational and interpretive programming.
Telling the Park’s story through educational living history experiences
Providing hands on learning experiences
Supporting events and activities relating to the park
· Assisting in outreach efforts to bring the park’s story to the community.
Assisting in public awareness and marketing in an effort to increase visitation to the park
· Assisting in the development, maintenance and presentation of interpretive grounds and structures.
· Cooperating with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and the Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area (including the John/Landon Historic Carter Mansion) in developing and implementing plans for the park, historic
Historical Drama, historical display, historical skill classes instructions, art displays, many time-period classes and skills.
