Friends of the Nashua Public Library

About

The Friends of the Nashua Public Library was formed in 2005 to support and advocate for the public library in Nashua, NH. We raise funds to cover programs that would otherwise be unfilled.

Description

In 2013, we bought $3000 worth of museum passes--the Museum of Science and the Boston Aquarium are the most popular. We spent another $3000 on concerts and programs and about $1400 on movie licenses. We also hold an annual author event that brings the Nashua Reads author for that year to our city. This costs around $7000, depending on the author's fee.

Mission

To work in cooperation with the staff and trustees of the Nashua Public Library to support the Library and assist in the development, promotion, and completion of the Library's services, facilities, and programs. To act as a liaison between the community and the Library and to increase public awareness and stimulate the use of the Library's resources.

Products

Secondhand books and media. Some new items like book bags, notecards, and bookflips that promote the Library and its mission.

There are many things to like about this library. But I'd like to talk about one; its commitment to seed sharing. I really hope you visit the seed banks in your library or talk to them about starting one. And check out what you might like to grow this year. Check out the photos.
It's awesome the staff is so kind. Except this one Liberian news literally nobody on the computers at all but she wouldn't give me more time. No other person would have done that.. yes you spent my 3 hours total are looking for dropping literally. I just found her so rude about it
Super nice and clean library. Had nice quiet study rooms in the basement. Just talked to the staff and they set me up with nice place to get my work done.
The staff of this library are receiving the feedback from their performance and interaction with citizens. They probably feel as if they've done nothing wrong but they sure are censoring public's feedback. They must no be aware that they aren't suppose to delete publicly accessible feedback from the public. The people here need to change the way they do things. Perhaps treat people better and you'd not have to go to all the trouble of deleting and censoring unfavorable feedback.
Libraries used to be a place where you could find the books needed for the answers you want. The library of today is one of accessibility, and accessibility is utilized well at the Nashua Public Library. Parking was ample in the adjacent parking lot, though driving to it was a bit confusing in the dark of the night. I highly recommend going during the day because the library is alongside a river, which is a great place to let the mind wander after a hard study session. Many libraries feel like open spaces when compared to the past, perhaps because books take up more space than the internet. There is plenty of open space for patrons, including meeting spaces for small or large groups, and open space where individuals can work near each other masks highly recommended. Art is displayed in the basement, including a spinny chair that looks like fun, but not something a grown adult should enjoy. Librarians dutifully recognized Covid precautions, and no sustainability score. Overall, this place is a wonderful resource and should be enjoyed by visitors and locals, alike!
Egregious behavior by the director, captured on video and published online, should lead to her immediate dismissal or resignation. Shameful. She embarrassed her city and the many employees at this library who showed exemplary conduct.
Official public record. Do not delete. This library sucks. Staff is rude. They need new leadership. Thank you.
An excellent resource for all ages offering events as well as internet access and of course an immense archive.
On our short list of places to bring the kids when we need out of the house. Children’s area is great for book selection and layout. Thank you to whomever decided to separate out the 3rd grade level chapter books. For adults the graphic novel selection is fantastic and the adult books are easy to locate.Movie selection is great, current and easy to find. Librarians have always been helpful to myself and children.
The Director of this library seems respectful, intelligent, patient and very professional.
