Description

In the cold, early morning on December 31, 1862, a battle erupted between the Union and Confederate armies totaling more than 80,000 men. The small town of Murfreesboro, Tennessee was about to become a major battlefield. The bloody battle that resulted in over 23,000 casualties had an impact on the community that still reverberates through the current generation. The outcome helped shape the destiny of a nation.

As Friends, we strive to instill in others the passion for the resources and stories of Stones River National Battlefield. It is a place for reflection and remembrance; a place to define what it is to be an American in the 21st century. With this in mind, we work diligently to positively promote and protect our park.
