To raise awareness of the Uffizzi and its cultural treasures by providing resources for acquisition, preservation, restoration and education.
Amici degli Uffizi, established in 1993 after the Uffizi bombing, has supported the Uffizi Gallery in Florence by facilitating acquisitions, supporting restorations and organizing special events. Friends of the Uffizi USA works with Amici to raise funds to support these activities through the efforts of its dedicated members and patrons. Over 30 restoration projects have been completed since 2011.
The Uffizi Gallery, originally showcasing the Medici family collection of ancient sculptures, is considered one of the world's first public museums. It receives over 1.6 million visitors per year and is the home to some of antiquity's most treasured Renaissance art.
Working closely with the museum's curatorial staff, both groups play a vital role in preserving and restoring one of the worlds most important museums and the cultural heritage of Western civilization.
Mission: Restoration and maintenance of some of the world's greatest works of art at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy.
